Trade targets?

I actually don’t think it’s too unusual to see a lull even five days away from the deadline. I think Sunday, possibly as early as Saturday, things will pick up

Check last year's thread and we all said the same thing about it being a boring deadline. lol things just pick up a day or two prior.

I don't think the Braves will trade anyone that important.. I am more curious about the 3rd tax tier and if they pass that.

If they do trade for Efflin, then I think Fried is worse off than being reported.

Edit.. maybe not.. Could signal that AA is worried the quad A fodder is going to prevent the Braves from even making the post season and he is done with it.

I would love Efflin. Might not be a top tier SP but I like pitchers that don't walk people. Plus he fills a rotation spot for next year so we can focus on fixing the offense.

Eflin is solidly a mid-rotation type of pitcher. FIPs consitently in the mid 3.00 range over the last 5 years. One of the lowest BB rates in the league. Basically another Morton type. Would be a very good pick up, imo. And comes with the added benefit of an extra yeatr of control, (albeit at 18 million). Still, he makes a good replacement for Morton in the fairly likely chance he retires.

I would think we could get both Arozarena and Eflin together for pretty fair value given both guys are not having especially great years and are rather expensive.

Also, given the rather poor state of out farm at the moment, I would think finding a decent SS would be paramount this off-season. Ha-Seong Kim is my favorite pick. Amazing defender decent enough hitter. Should not require a massive contract. I hope AA is on the same page. It's by far our main weakness.

Would definitely break that last tax threshold..

So who gets that money anyway? Does MLB spread that amongst the poor teams.. or just a back room deal with the Yankee$ and Dodger$

3rd tax tier penalty honestly isn't as severe as I thought. Just dropping 10 spots in the draft. Granted that's a good bit of draft capital, but we could likely find a trade partner between now and then to get an extra competitive balance pick to compensate for that.

I think the Braves also know they will pick up a pick with Fried leaving.

The Braves are in a position this year where losing 10 spots in the draft is worth the massive upgrades they need on this roster to boost playoff chances. There is a very real chance this team falls flat of a WC spot, and that can't be allowed to happen to protect 10 spots of draft capital late in the 1st round.

I mean...they will just draft the 50th best player with the 35th pick rather than the 25th pick...so what's the difference?

I was thinking if its gone like the last few drafts, a top ten talent will inexplicably fall to them in the first.

This is just some thoughts of mine about what other teams could do in regards to selling. I have no inside info. This is just for discussion purposes.

White Sox: They need to do a fire sale. They'll almost certainly trade Pham and Fedde. But they're not going to be good for at least a couple years. They need to trade Robert and Crochet and get some youngsters.

Angels: Should definitely be listening to offers on Ward and Anderson. Looking down the road, the have perhaps a tough decision to make on Mike Trout in the off-season.

Tigers. Really skeptical about a trade with Skubal being all that likely. If it happens, Orioles and Dodgers likely. Baltimore sending Jackson Holliday in a possible deal? Flaherty is likely to be dealt. Saw someone say Javier Baez. Can't see it with his contract and lack of production.

Marlins: Traded Arriez weeks ago and dealt Puk to Arizona tonight. They're not done. Tanner Scott will almost certainly be dealt and I look for De La Cruz to be talked about.

Blue Jays: Have a couple potential pitching pieces, but very unlikely Guerrero and Bichette will go anywhere.

A's: Mason Miller on IL, so scratch that possibility. Will still get plenty of interest with Rooker.

Rays: Maybe the most interesting team in this deadline period. Eflin is likely to be dealt. Arozarena is a good bet, but not as certain. Wouldn't be surprised to see Lowe get dealt.

Cubs: Jameson Tallion I think will be going somewhere. Bellinger will be talked about, but I think buyer beware with him.
