Honestly, this is sane for her. She legitimately scares me.

Lunatics most certainly do wear buffalo hats and **** in the floor. These people who were at the Capitol because they were so ****ing stupid they thought the election was stolen. So we need to remember these are irrational people. And the count I have is 5 arrested for guns. And as police say "If I have a gun and someone is fighting with me, then we have a gun". They could have taken guns from the Capitol police. Pretty sure Congress has an armory somewhere in there as well if they could access to it.

The goal was to change the election result. How is that not a coup?

The goal of some protests this Summer was to defund the police.

In the same way that those protests were formed to create public pressure for a defunding of the police, this protest was formed to create public pressure to halt the certification.

In the same way that those defund the police protests were not formed to literally go into police stations and physically take actual funding money, this protest was not formed to literally go into the Capitol and physically take actual votes.

In both cases there was a small percentage of the group that was made up of bad actors who acted badly.

You say the protest was not formed with the intention of going into the Capitol and using violence against Congress and Pence. Would it change your mind if we find out Trump or one of his recently appointed people sabotaged the defense? I cant see any reason to do that except if you wanted the protesters to make it inside. Trump is the easiest book to read. I dont doubt for one second he was trying to get the optic of the American people revolting against an illegal election. Time will tell.

One question I've wondered about is why the police were so restrained and didn't use their guns. There are various reasons but I found this quote from a DC policeman interesting:

“I didn’t want to be the guy who starts shooting, because I knew they had guns — we had been seizing guns all day,” he said. “And the only reason I could think of that they weren’t shooting us was they were waiting for us to shoot first. And if it became a firefight between a couple hundred officers and a couple thousand demonstrators, we would have lost.”

Another officer on the mixed composition (and behavior) of the mob:

Looking over the chaotic scene in front of him from the Capitol steps, Glover grew concerned as the battle raged. There were people caught up in the moment, he said, doing things they would not ordinarily do. But many appeared to be on a mission, and they launched what he and the police chief described as a coordinated assault.

“Everything they did was in a military fashion,” Glover said, saying he witnessed rioters apparently using hand signs and waving flags to signal positions, and using what he described as “military formations.” They took high positions and talked over wireless communications.

Generally in any protest you want to avoid shooting real bullets at people. Just optics of it are really bad, but the more I hear about all this the more I think cops should have started shooting. It only took 1 bullet to stop anyone from trying to get through that terrorist was shot trying to get through. Would only take 1 cop per window or opening. I am not for shooting people who just want to yell at lawmakers. These people were not there to yell at lawmakers.

The cops had been seizing guns all day. Good reason to believe that some of the crowd were still packing heat.

Something doesn't add up. They moved with military precision using flags and hand signals and were armed. So they broke in and crapped in the floor and stole a lectern without ever using those guns? That's what the sidearms and tactical drills were for?

Broadly two groups:

1) Horn man and lectern grabber and others milling around and crapping on the floor

2) The ones organized for a pre-meditated assault

I am still baffled that a lot of shooting didn't break out. Maybe the cop talking about confiscated guns exaggerates things.

And where are all the arrests for these guns seized. Or are they telling me having a gun outside the Capitol didnt result in arrest? They said all day so there shouldnt be the excuse they didnt have the time or manpower. This is such a bad and lame excuse.
