TUESDAY FINAL THREAD 5/9 .... Acuna debuts big in AA

TD hits a 2 run HR. Acuna bringing the offensive explosions from Florida to Mississippi.

Mississippi pitching with average offense would be really good. If they could only get a pen then there is some scary team right there.

Acuna 3 for 3 after a sharply hit single to left. Apparently we're all idiots.

Nice to see him starting strong. I think pretty much everyone expected him to be in AA by midseason at least, but the weirdly short stay in A+ is still kinda odd. Hopefully they leave him in AA the rest of the year though (or the vast majority of it), he needs to get his fair share of ABs in the minors over the next year and a half.

Acuna strikes out in his 4th PA. Clearly we were all right about Coppy being an idiot.

Allard was such a great gamble with his injury. He's absolutely dominating batters at every stop and shows no signs of slowing down.

I'm not saying we rush him, but we may see Teheran, Allard, Folty, Newcomb, Sims a lot sooner than we think.

People want to say the Brass plays it safe with draft picks, but he was a pretty big gamble on upside.

Demeritte's numbers so far this year in a tough hitter's environment in MS: 268 / 349 / 446. 22% K rate. Most scouting reports I've seen rate his defense as plus. For me, he is closing the gap on some of the other infielders that are viewed as ahead of him.

To me he is Exhibit A for the high upside strategy we should be taking with every single first round pick.

Same with Sims. Even a guy that has appeared to stall and dissapoint is now sitting in AAA at a relative young age and ready to potentially break out into the major league rotation.

I keep harping on the need to do exactly what we've done over the last couple of years. It hasn't been that way for way too long leading to some below average drafts, desperate trades and a barren farm system. The upcoming draft should see a continuous flow of high upside talent. I like it.
