Playing the Waiting Game
What? The Braves were above average in team OBP in 2013. They were also 4th in the league in runs scored.
The strikeouts and hitting w/RISP (except Freeman) were and have been our downfall.

Fun fact, that's not true in regards to hitting w/RISP. Jason, Simmons and Bossman hit better w/RISP than without, Chris Johnson was way better w/RISP. ONly Justin was worse without runners in scoring position.
In fact as a team, the Braves wRC+ was slightly better w/RISP than without as we hit at an 87 w/RISP and an 86 normally. We sucked as a team hitting, it wasn't contained to hitting w/RISP.
Hm just because a couple of the guys hit better with RISP than without doesn't mean our hitting with RISP didn't kill us. It did. It was overall poor.
I literally said in that post that we were better w/RISP than regular. Our issue was we sucked at hitting, not just w/RISP
Braves stats as a team
wRC+ overall - 86
w/RISP - 87
w/Men on base - 89
Empty - 84.
OP said our hitting with RISP hurt us. It did, in fact hurt, as we were below average there. Hitting in general hurt us. But so did RISP. You said "that's not true." I'm not sure you read what you wrote.
Your hitting in situational stats are usually pretty close. We sucked at hitting. Hitting w/RISP was a translation of that. The idea that "we sucked at hitting w/RISP" implies that we were doing OK at other aspects of hitting. Not being worse.
