Umm…Acuña Says That He Won’t Miss Freddie

I have wondered at all of the leadership questions on this team.

To me, all of the video content I have seen suggests it's obviously Ozzie. Ozzie seems to unite everyone from a language perspective to a youth and veteran perspective. He seems to bridge all gaps.

Can't be Dansby. You can't lead from the tub or from the lows he has. I don't think it's Ronald. Ronald is just too special and too him to be leading others.

people get tired of athletes interviewing like Russell Wilson. Then when someone is honest, they complain about that.

Acuna did like an ex-teammate. Not sure why we should care.

Maybe it hurts FF's image. I think how FF handled this offseason hurts his image for non players.

Even if it doesn't. It's minor.

I will take Acuna and Albies swag all day over Freddie's old school style.

There's a cultural barrier between the Latin American guys who are all usually free spirits and express their emotions on their sleeves. Whereas guys like Freeman and Dansby are the good ole boys.

Not saying one is better than the other, but there has to be a balance somewhere. And maybe it was Snitker's poor management of personalities because he let Freeman do a lot of things he shouldn't have like force Dansby to play tired and exhausted.

I will say this. Acuña hasn't pretended to be something he's not or mislead us. Freeman on the other hand showed a petty side this offseason that was never really showcased previously. The way he went about his leaving was not very cool IMO.

I still won't forget how Snit and Freddie threw Acuña under the bus after the long single fiasco. Bobby would have benched him but NEVER thrown him under the bus like Snit and Freddie did. And Bobby would not have allowed any other players to throw him under as well.

You'll still get articles from the local writers on how the Braves are racist for not having any african-american players on the team.

I know there is much more to race than skin color, but it’s wild narrative to me that individual teams are criticized for lack of black players despite having several black Latin players.

Baseball does have an issue with appealing to African Americans though.

i don’t think Dansby minds anything Ronald does or anything about him. he may have loved Freddie but he’s not boomer-minded (i don’t think anyway)

Bobby pulled Andruw out of a game, and the clip I've seen of that post-game, Bobby said something way worse than Snit ever said in Acuña's couple of situations. If that were in the Twitter age instead of 1998, people would have been ready to run Bobby's ass out of town.

Everyone in baseball has regrettable moments, and no one is beyond criticism every once in a while. I loved Freddie as a Brave and love Acuña.

I agree. Dansby is very animated on the field. The only reason for Dansby to not like Ronald is because Ronnie stole Ozzie from his as a BFF.

I agree. Ozzie is the undisputed leader of the team now.

From Schultz:

A few quotes from Ronald Acuna pre-game on the IG interview kerfuffle an comments on Freddie Freeman:
"I think the reporters exaggerated. I didn’t say anything bad about Freeman. I talked about what happened in 2018 when I came up as a rookie. The rest was blown out of proportion."

The Little King's friendship is all-encompassing. This is one of my favorite Braves memories. It happened at a very sad moment for the Braves and Braves fans. But it shows what a friend is for.

I don't think Snit "doesn't like" Acuna, I think he really just doesn't understand him. Great young players have a fire that comes out in flare & pumping themselves up with dramatics. Snit is old school and he thinks "nose to the grindstone" and "look like you have been here before" are better mantras.

He wants Acuna to be the best in baseball and is afraid that if you focus too much on "selfies" & "swords" then you risk the chance of not putting in the work to keep getting better. Not necessarily but possibly. Snit doesn't stop those type of actions & Wash & EY support them actively, so Snit is smart enough to know he needs those type of motivations to make his team a "team". That is where I think he shines as a manager. Build a coaching staff that fills all the necessary aspects of a coaching staff and then let them do their thing their way.

I don't think Ronnie would be as great as he is if he didn't express himself the way he does. Sure it is obnoxious sometimes. But if he tried to curb it I think he would lose something. Of course people have a way of settling down as they get older and that is happening with him too. But hopefully that fire will always burn. It is part of what makes him great.

Heard the clip myself and can confirm the Reddit summary/translation is 100% spot on. It’s only a clip though, so idk until I hear the full interview to verify the rest of the original tweet. May be exaggeration, who knows

Why is everything gotta be about race? Fk yo feelings. I wish this team would continue to have fun. If they can't put bs aside and love the exuberance of a player having fun..fk them too!

Hahahahaha

You realize Acuña could be truly an All-Time great right? He's 3rd all time in Braves hitters qualified before 23 in wRC+ only bested by Hank and Matthews.

You do realize "could be" and "is" are two different things? Maybe RAJ lives up to greatness, or maybe he's the next Jason Heyward or Frenchie that fails expectations.
