Video Game Thread: Atari vs. Commodore Debate...

Nintendo the last few years haven't really had that strong E3's. They've been using their Directs to announce major reveals.

Xenoblade trailer, Kirby, Pokemon, Metroid Prime, Yoshi game, Breath of the Wild DLC and amiibos, Rocket League, Mario Odyssey trailer, and Metroid for 3ds.

You're right that they don't often do big stuff at E3 in the past. But now with their treehouse direct they relish it.

Any thoughts or expectations for the upcoming Atari? At $300 it has to be more than just a retro look and some 40 year old games. I hope.

I have a gaming PC, so it’s not for me, but if that thing can handle something like Cuphead than it could be a really nifty box.

Basically it just depends how it compares to the base XBox One, which I am under the impression it will be much less powerful than. If that’s the case, then I’m not sure who would buy it other than Atari puritans.

No discussions about all the big pre-E3 announcements?

2 new "casual" pokemon games coming out in months an new Core games in the second half of next year for the Switch. And Fallout 76. Things are getting hype and we still have 2 weeks til e3

The industry buzz is that most of the big stuff has already leaked. I’m prepping myself for a very lackluster E3, which will go nicely with a very lackluster 2018 for video games in general.

I think 2018 just seems lackluster due to 2017 bending so legendary. 2017 had BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Horizon, RE7, Nier:Automata, Nioh, Divinity Original Sin 2, plus the launch of the Switch. I’m sure I’m even missing some, but that’s an incredible lineup of gaming.

Only thing I care about is Sma5h/SmVsh

I wish the Yellow remake looked more like open world Zelda/GTA instead of just the new gems on a big screen.

They sold me on the Let's Go game. Guess I'll have to fire up Pokemon Go soon.

2018 has been pretty great. I mean don't compare it to 2017 because every year is different, but there's a double handful of huge games coming out this year. RDR2, Monster Hunter, God of War, Crackdown, and I'm sure a buttload I'm bound to forget. I think for Switch it's a let down because BotW, Splatoon, and Odyssey, but this is building up to next year which will be Prime, Pokemon, and more.

I'm not sold on it as far as gameplay but it looks fun and the fact that I can play it with my gf is a boost because then I don't have to worry about her stealing my damned 3DS to play Pokemon Red miserably.

2017 got me into gaming again... it was that good. I basically didn’t touch a console video game in four years until the Switch last year. It was insane.

2018 is let down because I want to chase that high.

Eh.

Its basically Smash 4.5/Deluxe.

Still no Waluigi.

He'll probably come. Hopefully not as an echo fighter. Ridley has had a much huger smash following than Waluigi. He was bigly wanted. He's gonna be huge.

Smash at it's core hasn't changed that much. That's why they don't release that often.
