We need a new manager!!!

It's been that way all year. People hate him for some reason despite how much success he's had. Two things I've come to realize. The bashing will continue and he'll be our manager for a very long time.

Truth is, most teams fire Fredi after '11. And he deserved it. Wins are just as flawed when using them to rate a manager as they are when using them to rate a pitcher. His in-game managing is below average. And that is being kind. Since he took over, he has had players calling him out, a coach attacking a player and another making lewd gestures toward fans, and at least one player admitting that he thought Fredi ended his career.

I argued after game one that Fredi didn't cost us the game, that he wasn't to blame. But tonight is another story, Fredi had a bad game. A manager can have a good game managing and still lose. But he can also have a bad game managing and still win. Tonight both managers made bad mistakes but those made by Don Mattingly proved the most costly. The walk of the rusty and not even 100% Reed Johnson to face Heyward was a terrible move. Thankfully for us it also proved key as Heyward drove in the runs that proved the difference.

Only thing I disagree on is hitting EJ, and maybe not letting Minor finish the 7th.

Outside of that, he did fine.

Hanley is crazy good, give credit on the homer.

Then Carp fans AGon and Puig back to back.

I would of kept in Gattis over Laird though.

But not as bad as the Fredi haters like, you and others said.

SSS, Laird probably caught no more than 15-20 games.

Nah, he played in 47 games and started around 30 games. Mac missed a lot of the first month and was eased back into catching the second month. So Laird started more in early months. Plus Laird started 7 games in Sept. too and more spread out other months.

Hard to tell, even still, doesn't change much.

Does Gattis throw out Gordon, maybe it goes into the outfield, we will never know.

I don't think Fredi was as bad as some say though.

Some mistakes but none too bad.

His very first decision almost immediately resulted in a run that would've never scored had he been a competent in-game manager.

BS, on the new manager stuff. FG gonna be here a long time. Although if it ever happens I would not be surprised if Bobby comes back. You can see it on his face.

If we're all a bunch of "Fredi haters", then you're someone that always has your head up the managers arss while at the same time being a pessimist about the team (such as us beating the Dodgers, etc).

Lord knows if we lose it must be totally the players fault since Fredi cannot be questioned...

So a manager doesn't get credit for wins now? What's their job if it's not to win?

Judging a pitcher on wins is flawed because that's based on how much run support they receive but a manager's job is to manage all 25 guys. If you can't judge them on wins then how do you judge them? Do you just pick the moves they make that you disagree with and call them a bad manager? If that's the case then good managers don't exist. Every manager makes questionable moves, especially with their bullpen.

And no, nobody deserves to be fired after their 1st year.

Honestly not sure how you blame that on him.

Ayala got the ground ball, and Ayala missed the bag which would of been two outs.

Not sure what more to do really.

No, if we lose, it's because we lost to an extremely good team headed by the best pitcher on the planet.

Along with a lot of other good players.

There is reason many people have LA going deep into the playoffs.

Wow, saying a manager can mismanage and win and lose while managing well doesn't imply that. But it's true a bad manager can have a winning regular season if he manages a very talented team. Further, managers have long gotten too much credit for wins and too much blame for losses, IMO.

Let's look at recently fired Dusty Baker, he's had some very good teams in Cincy. But is he a good manager? He's always been a rather poor manager if you ask me (despite making the playoffs due to very talented teams). I will also add I consider him a very likable fella.

Let's say we split in LA, and Kershaw throws a CG shutout in Game 5, lose 1-0.

Sadly, I bet people would blame Fredi for that.

wow back at you. Wins are all that matter, I'd much rather have a manager that makes "bad moves" and wins than someone who makes "good moves" and loses. Whoever replaces Dusty has his work cut out for him. As was mentioned today on MLB radio, their season next year won't be considered a success unless they win more than 90 games.

Regardless of what you think about Fredi's in game managing, I'd hope everyone would agree he has more information at his disposal than any of us do. There is a reason he makes the moves he makes. Also, he's pretty good at player development from what I've seen. Our young players have come up and performed well for him. As bad as he supposedly is at managing a bullpen his relief pitches seem to pitch very well for him. David Carpenter is a guy I look at. He came out of nowhere and has had a great year. But nobody wants to talk about the good things Fredi does, all we see posted is how bad he is.
