WEDNESDAY MINORS FINAL 6/13/18: Fried Fabulous

Looking forward to seeing waters and Cruz, but Encarnacion and Izzy Wilson have been most impressive so far.

Kyle Wright throwing well through five. This from a prospect writer who is there —

Oh man, I like #Braves Kyle Wright. Not elite upside but he’s got a deep repertoire, knows how to pitch, and can locate FB in/out. CH future plus. Mid-rotation w/out a flinch from me. @2080ball

Encouraging but a little upsetting because I think we were initially lead to believe he did indeed have some pretty elite upside

Rarely seen a guy as dialed as Encarnacion was in the early game. Don't know a thing about the guy, but he's a strong, athletic looking kid. Likes to swing the bat.

Signed for 10k out of 2016 international draft. Still only 20. I guess he might be leading the SAL in BA after today. Power seems to be emerging. Doesn't seem to walk at all. Supposedly started out skinny. I gather he is filling out. I think he's a prospect.

So there is some hope for continuing to be relevant in the international market despite the restrictions. I guess we fired the guy who found all these guys so that could be an issue?

The Waters case is interesting if he continues to do this. I feel like the Braves prefer to leave high schoolers in Rome for the full year based on the way they’ve handled guys in recent years, but if Waters keeps doing this, he might have to go to Florida.

He even smoked two balls for outs in the first game today.

Just think how Rome would be if we wouldn’t have lost 13 prospects.

Definitely would’ve been interesting to see how the Braves handled it, but I’m pretty sure Yefri Del Rosario is the only one of the 13 who is currently in full season ball.

Waters knows what he's doing at the dish. He is not an impressive looking dude, but he has a clue and a tight swing.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and agree that Encarnacion may be a prospect. He is not skinny now. He looks yoked as hell, actually.

In other news, Derian Cruz looks quick and slick with the glove but didn't show much at the plate.

I loved the Drew Waters pick when we made it and it looks like it is turning out to be a great pick. When I see his tools it reminds me of something like a young switch hitting Hunter Pence. And above average runner, average to above average glove, and a plus arm that has the ability to be a .260-.270 hitter that can drop 15-20 homers per year (maybe more in the current climate). I think that is probably his ceiling. It would also be nice to have another switch hitter in the lineup.

I'll go out on a limb and say Rome wouldn't have been as good seeing that none of those 13 prospects is currently playing full-season ball. I am really curious to see how all those highly-ranked guys play in their new systems when short-season ball begins.
