What's next?

Consider the competitive balance draft picks, which are the only picks that can be traded:

They can only be traded during the regular season, can only be traded once, and cannot be involved in any trade involving cash. Here is the order for 2016:

Comp Round A: Marlins, Rockies, Cardinals, Brewers, Padres, Indians
Round B: Reds, Athletics, Mariners, Twins, Orioles, D-backs

Comp A follow the first round, Comp B follow the second round

Isn't that Marlins pick ours from the Olivera deal, or am I confused?

I am glad we are keeping our prices high. If they dont want to meet it now then lets wait for the season to start and wait till someone gets desperate.

I agree with this. We're really in a situation where the only way we lose is if we drop our asking price. If we hold steady with an asking price that's aggressive and nobody bites, then all that happens is we keep a solid CF with a high floor around for upwards of 5 years. If we find a team willing to meet our aggressive asking price then we get a return that can help the rebuild in other ways.

Granted, there is some semi-objective value for Inciarte and I'm hoping we don't get too aggressive. If the Cubs were to offer Soler plus two of their better prospects, I'd have to say we should take that deal.

Haven't kept up with comp picks much. How are the picks determined?

Really a good question. A committee meets and awards a certain number; some teams do not get one with no specific criteria involved. Thinking it's more like a roll of the dice or who is stroking who behind closed doors.

Based on my knowledge of stroking, I think it's who is stroking whom. Don't think the doors matter much.

I was curious bc only the Reds had a worse record than us so I assumed it should be based on record.

The common thread we've seen in nearly all of the off-season deals is that we got a player we had no right to expect would be dealt. That includes Fried, Wisler, Newcomb, Inciarte and Swanson. So shooting for the moon is the gameplan, if not the goal, right now. If no one does, then the Braves' opening day lineup is just about squared away.

Don't you wonder what a package that includes Inciarte, Folty, Sanchez would bring?

It's based off some BS mumbo jumbo. The 10 smallest markets, and teams receiving revenue sharing enter the lottery. Cardinals are somehow in that smallest market. Despite having one of th ehigher revenue streams in baseball. Seriously, it's a BS list. How can the Cardinals who (accoring to Forbes) have revenue streams nearing 300M be put in the boat as the Rays and Marlins who make half the revenue.

It's just more BS from MLB to prop up certain franchises.

I think we sell high on Arodys too. I've wondered what a package of Inciarte, Arodys, and a pitcher would net.

Had not thought of that....I like Viz in that role...I assumed we'd keep him. But if we could get a Giles type package I'd consider it. At some point we have to keep some MLB ready players.

If the current offseason holds to form the next move will be Inciarte. Everytime a "rumor" comes out about a braves player under Coppy he's traded w/i the month. Just not sure if the Inciarte stuff is enough to hit the Braves planted rumor level yet.

We offered him in the D-backs trade, so I think it's possible. His value may never be higher than it is now. Also if we have another reliever "closing" for us then that ups their value to be traded as well.
