This heel turn on the eve of Trump’s inauguration is one of the most shameful displays of cowardly profiteering I can recall. While I appreciate his newfound commitment to free speech, it does not absolve him of happily complying with government officials to suppress speech. Everything he’s doing right now is to curry favor with the Trump administration — just like everything he did previously was to be in the good graces of the Biden administration. He would have conspired with the Nazis, British Red Coats, Joseph McCarthy, and Stalinists.
There’s few people I can think of that have had a more negative impact on society that Zuckerberg and Meta.

Another reminder that the story of the rise of what was still one of the most popular companies in the world at the time was almost entirely about how Mark Zuckerberg is an immensely weird little backstabbing snake.

Probably no one on this board will care but Elon lies about being a hardcore gamer is so funny. For someone with $400b and enormous influence, why you would lie about something as trivial as how good of a gamer is so pathetic.
Add to that he posts on alt accounts about how “Elon is an incredible father”, random shows on X generate more views than the Super Bowl, shadow banning for getting mad at him over H1B, etc. it really does paint a picture of a deeply deeply insecure person.

I must admit I do care at least a little that in about ten days a lying, insecure internet troll with a savior complex and billions of dollars is going to apparently be a part of the Executive Branch, and I still think it’s surprising that there hasn’t been a bigger pushback to him being able to directly profit from calling his social media company the “real news” while serving in that capacity.
I have said from the beginning the government shouldn’t be involved in these arenas. I hope the right maintains that energy when it’s for the personal profit of the richest man in the world instead of
Where we seem to fundamentally disagree is on the claim that Dems are actually more prone to censorship and lies than the Republican Party. What I see every 2-4 years is a choice between powerful people who want to monitor and control me and powerful people who want to monitor and control me but also agree with more of my social positions. Voting for Dems frequently sucks, but I guess at least I’m not getting duped into thinking Donald Trump is fighting for me.

Zuckerberg is definitely a spineless weasel who would be singing a different tune if Kamala won.
I will say that I think he has personally shifted more to the right. He's been displaying a lot of that shift since he got into MMA, which i frankly think a modern leftist could never endure.

I feel bad for the students. Who were lied to, and promised a product that would bring them riches but instead is crippling them in debt.

I think some people are reading wayyyy too far into the reasoning behind this Red Note stuff. It’s a bunch of young rich kids and influencers seeing “Government is banning your social media app because of China, and those same people seeing an even more Chinese social media app and being intentionally contrarian, because that’s quite literally what kids are famous for doing. “It’s not just a phase, mom!”
