Why Do Liberals Hate 'American Sniper'?

If Snowden really did sell those secrets to the Chinese and Russia, the US would've covertly killed him already.

If he posed that big of a threat to national security, the Drone President would've destroyed him already.

I have no doubt that he did. Was just guaging what Goldfly thought of traitors.

you would need to show me an example of a traitor for that, you know that right?

cause you referenced a patriot in your first question

Jesse Ventura Won't See 'American Sniper'; Says Chris Kyle Is No Hero

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — American Sniper is tops at the box office but don’t expect to see former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura lining up at a theater for it.

Ventura, a former Navy SEAL, won $1.8 million in a defamation lawsuit last year against the estate of the late Chris Kyle, the SEAL protagonist of the movie, which has sparked debate over whether snipers should be considered heroes. Ventura said Wednesday he won’t see the film partly because Kyle is no hero to him.

"A hero must be honorable, must have honor. And you can’t have honor if you’re a liar. There is no honor in lying," Ventura told The Associated Press from his winter home in Baja California, Mexico. He also noted that the movie isn’t playing there.

Ventura also dismissed the movie as propaganda because it conveys the false idea that Iraq had something to do with the 9/11 attacks. “It’s as authentic as Dirty Harry,” he said, referring to fictional movie series starring Clint Eastwood, the director of American Sniper.

Ventura testified Kyle fabricated a subchapter in his American Sniper book in which Kyle claimed he punched out a man, whom he later identified as Ventura, at a California bar in 2006 for allegedly saying the SEALs “deserve to lose a few” in Iraq. Ventura said it never happened.

The jury gave Ventura the legal vindication he craved. Publisher HarperCollins removed the passage from the best-seller, and it gets no mention in the movie. Kyle’s estate has appealed. Ventura’s separate lawsuit against HarperCollins remains pending.

The former wrestler is now working on the second season of his online-only political talk show Off the Grid at Ora.tv, which he records in Mexico, where he lives in a solar-powered home with a satellite Internet connection.

I'm solid lefty on most issues and I thought American Sniper was both entertaining and moving, but I've always been an Eastwood fan. The movie didn't spend much time on the deeper issues but so what? I don't expect great historical or social insight at the cinema. I'd rather watch a good story, artfully told with good actors and imho that's what I got.

You do know Goldy that Ventura had too many hits to the head when he wrestled and a certified loon. They actually hate him up here. Ask 500 about this government policies, a complete joke like the person he is.

So take his opinions with a worth a grain of salt.

Sorry you didn't answer my question.

Also - since you have no doubt, do you have the evidence to support it?

You think Russia would take Snowden in and not get all the secrets that he knows out of him? A country that is run by a guy who used to head thier spy agency is going to let Snowden just live in Russia for nothing?

I told you I have no doubt that he did. It's ludricous to assume that he didnt. Anytime people jump ship they spill secrets.

To say that Snowden didnt give up information to Russia is the same as saying that all the nazi scientists that were brought over to America after ww2 didnt talk.

My question - specifically - was:

If it were proven that he didn't, would your opinion of him change?

You haven't answered that yet.

Additionally - since you have no doubt, do you have ANY evidence to support that?

I still applaud Snowden for exposing the corruption of our government. He is a patriot and it's a shame so many have vilified him.

Predictably, Sturg becomes obsessed with asking questions and the thread will thusly drag on ad infinitum.

Do YOU (sturg) believe that Snowden has NOT provided information to the Russians (wittingly, or otherwise)?

if not, what do you think the incentive is for the Russian government to continue offering him asylum, aside from 'to piss America off' -- because I'd be really sad if that was a notion a lot of people entertained.

I don't believe he did because I have no reason to.

I believe Putin is probably offering him asylum for a few reasons:

1. He hasn't committed a crime in Putin's eyes

2. Putin hates America

3. I've read many of Putin's speeches over the years. And while, I disagree with a lot of what he says, he is 100% correct when it comes to the hypocrisy of America, especially when it comes to foreign policy. My guess is, he identifies that Snowden revealed more hypocrisy and Russia supports that.

These are all assumptions. I have no clue what is going on. But the evidence isn't there.

Meanwhile, I'm asking a simple question. The thread won't go on ad infinitum if that question is answered.

I respect your opinion, although I will inject that you give Putin far, far too little credit.
