My daughter is one of the relatively small group of women with degrees in computer science. She graduated with very high departmental honors from a very good university near Silicon Valley three years ago. I recently asked her if she ever considered working there. And she gave a non-verbal answer that was the equivalent of are you kidding me. Too bad. Silicon Valley is losing out when it comes to her and other talented women like her. There is a problem there with the culture when it comes to women.
Maybe it’s not as bad there as she thinks. She could had gotten a few job offers for all she knows.

Basic coding should really be mandatory in schools by this point. Even if the coding language you learn is useless or out of date I think its a great way to teach important concepts and problem solving. We should be introducing this to kids very early in school imo. I learned C++ in high school but it was an elective.
