Approaching Buddy Hernandez Territory
Well you also thought CJ was a "good hitter" so...
He was last year
But your point is well taken, we all have the ability to be wrong....even you.

If BJ performed at his averages over his last 3 years in Tampa, we'd be fine with it and it wouldn't be 1/4 of the disaster.
Even if Fredi is indeed gone, I think it's safe to assume that McDowell and Eddie Perez will stay on regardless of whom the new GM/Manager combo is. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie gets promoted to bench coach.
McDowell essentially has given himself a life contract with the work he's done the last 8 years. Eddie is going to have a job with the Braves forever even if he's not the bullpen coach. I think Bobby and JS would not let the new regime touch either McDowell or Eddie.
The new GM should be given serious input into EVERY position with the understanding that the Pitching Coach is McDowell and that Perez is retained in a position where his opinion is considered and given weight IMO.
You just re-worded what I said. lol
Eddie Perez is going to be here forever, until he asks permission to interview for a managerial job somewhere else (assuming he doesn't get it here). McDowell will stay here unless he goes Bud Black and decides to manage instead of be a pitching coach. I think any team that will throw money at McDowell, we'll likely match it.
I will say one thing about Wren's teams that I've liked have been the way he's assembled his bullpens.
He's arguably had better bullpens than JS ever put together. 2002 bullpen was patchwork magic by JS, nobody expected Hammond and Holmes to have great years that they did.
At least O'Ventbrel were together for a few years with good supporting pieces.
And your point is?
Impossible to get that high.
I talked with Matt on the phone a week after Bj became a Brave and he told me Bj was awful. So he for one seen it coming. We have disagreed all year on Fredi being awful but he was dead on when it came to Bj.
I'm working hard for some Thanks. I had a 100+ lead over Dalyn at the All-Star break, but that lead has turned into a -100 deficit. I feel like the Braves surrendering the division lead to the Nats...
Julio's mark is unattainable. Impossible to get that high.
Question, how many more wins do we have if Jason, Justin, FF, and Gattis is the top 4 all year?
MAYBE an extra 4-5.
The team just isnt as good as you others think it is, comes down to that.
Not because of Fredi who while isnt a great manager gets WAY too much hate around these parts.
In what world is a 2B who hits aroudn .300 and walks around 10% of the time not a major league player?
The reason you think no one saw it coming and it wouldn't have been as bad was because of his power. If he hit 30 homeruns it would have helped his other numbers from looking as bad. He's a player that is dependent on his power because he's not going to hit for a high average and he's not going to get on base at a high clip. If he's not on base he can't still bases which utilizes his other skill set and that's his speed. You can keep saying I'm lying and I didn't see this coming if you want but it's not that surprising to me. If you consistently hit in the 240's why is it impossible to believe you could drop around the mendoza line? It happened to Adam Dunn. Low average hitters go into massive slumps that hurt the team. Everyone kept telling me he's in his prime and he would get better, well he didn't. He got worse. It's not that surprising because he doesn't have a great skill set. He has a massive hole in his swing that he's never corrected. Yet Wren thought it would be a good idea to give a player like that a big contract. I still don't understand what he was thinking. It's one of the worst signings any GM has ever made.
IF he was hitting around .300 he'd still be in there without question. Since Aug. 1st he's hitting around .180. He wasn't the answer. I'd rather have Dan Uggla than that. At least he can hit a HR every once in a while.
I wish TLS was a little quicker and a little more athletic. He wouldn't be so bad if we weren't struggling so everywhere else but he just looks like a one dimensional (OBP) player to me, and thus not very useful on a good team.
Sample size says what?
He has a .189 BABIP in that same time frame. His K rate and BB rate are basically the same as it was all year. His issue has been an unlucky BABIP, his LD% is still high, there's nothing indicating what happened to him in your sample is nothing more than statistical noise. TLS does 2 things well, he hits for average and he walks. Sure you want more but who on the team or on the horizon really brings much more?
So now they've officially offered the job to John Hart even though he's said several times that he really didn't want it. I hope he doesn't feel pressured to take it.
