GDT #17, 4/19/14: Braves (Santana) @ Mets (Colon) 7:10 PM

I know what you're saying, but it's not about desire. It's about self control and self control is an integral part of performance. I get pissed off a lot too, but know not to go into a cussing fit every time things don't go my way. It doesn't change a thing and you look childish.

Kimbrel knew he was done as soon as Fredi came out of the dugout and raised his right hand. His argument was over at that point. If he just had to protest at least he could've had the courtesy to cover his mouth with his glove.

I think we agree in the end. I think we both like the fire, but I agree with you that it was unprofessional. Kimbrel apologized like I figured he would.

Good to win the series and pick-up a game on the Nats tonight. But I am concerned about our bullpen and I am not just talking about Kimbrel. I never thought Carpenter was as good as his stats last year. So far this year he looks more like his track record and that isn't good. Thank God the wind apparently knocked down the Duda drive. If not we likely lose this game one way or another. Plus I am concerned about Kimbrel too, though I am hoping it was just rust tonight. Which I certainly expected since he had not pitched in a week.

Hopefully all the rest for Hale won't hurt him tomorrow. Let's sweep the Mets!

Didn't see the game, but glad to get the win. Barring any injury, Kimbrel will be fine. I think we will need to get some help, though.

I didn't get a chance to watch past the sixth but it looks as if our starting pitching continues to dazzle, but our bullpen is starting to scare me a bit. It's early and I like the guys we have, but we have to pitch better in relief.

I didn't see Kimbrel, but I heard his velocity was solid he just looked rusty and had literally no control. What'd you guys get out of it?

Jen has replaced Elizabeth Moreau. Jen covered the Braves years ago so it has come full circle. Remember the Bobby Dews rain delay programming? Jen did that interview. Just giving Tom a trip off.

I know. I was being facetious. If you read my earlier posts in the game thread I made comments such as "What has Tom Hart done to his hair"?

Wait, was Moreau the one that was in charge of the in-studio Braves tweets at the beginning of last year? The one that talked about pitching a no-hitter or something like that when it wasn't lol.

Kimbrel's velocity was better than his last outing that went well. His issues seemed to be more location and control tonight. Plus he hung his off-speed pitches a few times. So hopefully his shoulder is fine now and it's just rust. If so he should be better his next time out.

Velocity was for the most part around 94-96, touched 97 and 98 a few times.

Looked like he was overthrowing at some of the points in the inning. Laird was putting his glove on the dirt to signal low pitch and it'd be a foot above Laird. That happened a handful of times in the inning.

Control was definitely not there, and he looked hittable for the first time I can remember in a long while, probably since the NLDS 2010 Conrad game.

I remember the one you're talking about, can't remember her name, but Moreau replaced her. She made some stupid comment and was yanked the next day. Kind of surprised to see Jen back, college is more her thing. If they were going to bring anybody back Sandra Golden should have been top of the list.

Sweet. Thanks for the feedback. If that's all the case, then I'm not at all worried. I'd like to see some improvements with the BP but Craig is the least of my worries. Great to see Freeman and JUP do work tonight. Those two are one heck of a 3-4.

Lol, He wasn't hittable at all in that game. He gave up one soft grounder to Freddy Sanchez thanks to some asshole calling for a breaking ball when Sanchez couldn't touch his heater.

Now, if you want to talk about the final game of 2011, THAT was hittable.

Agreed, Kimbrel has looked hittable some games, but that wasn't one of them. Cox just didn't trust him because he was then a rookie and more of an unknown (not known as the dominate MLB closer he is now). Further, you are right about that Philly game. Plus Kimbrel has looked hittable vs the Mets a number of times in the past too (including the game Heyward made the diving catch in center to save a game last year).

More-so control than anything.

He was pumping 98 at one time.

I'd hold him out on Sunday just to be safe, everyone else SHOULD be full-go.

Might be Hale's last start on Sunday, i think Minor should be ready next weekend.

I'll say this for Justin Upton: that man does not strut in vain. When he breaks out the home run strut, that ball is going over the fence. I don't think I've ever seen it burn him, even on the wall scrapers.
