Jecki Lon Memorial Star Wars Thread

I also said directors. The director tug of war between Abrams and Johnson was embarrassing and Solo was a disaster that Rob Howard had to come in and make only bad.

Part 1 is an issue with the arc of the ST. SOlo's director issue was because Lord and Miller were deviating adn wasting money. Really the issue was Kasden being too precious with his script, he should have just done it himself.

Part 1 was Kennedy making the unfathomably stupid decision to have no overarching story from the start. They needed one person in charge of the overall project making sure the movies worked together.

Solo was a completely dysfunctional project. Kennedy obviously didn't have the right leadership in charge of that project.

Color me skeptical, but I think Disney was more to blame than Lucasfilm. I think they put the screws to Lucasfilm to make the movies as quickly as possible.

One thing I don't adore about Disney star wars and kind of why I think Disney is more to blame than LF. I think Kennedy is an easy scapegoat. And Bob Iger loves it. But part of the problem is the unevenness of star wars. Like they announced so many movies at the start.

Then all the shelved/cancelled films, Rian Johnson triology he won't touch til at least 2025 if anyone wants to deal with it then, Benioff/Weiss triology, Rogue Squadron, Yauka Waititi's film, Kenobi and Boba Fett moved from movies to shows (technically Fett was cancelled, then BoBF came after his revival on Mando)

It's like it's all chips in the bucket. Movies make a killing lets announce a slate of movies. Oh no movie backlash lets cancel. Mandalorian is taking off everything is a show. Oh wait more backlash, lets look at movies again?

Also like any director has a flop and they pull back. They were in on Josh Trank for BF movie then F4 had issues and they ran out from that then went to Mangold then Solo tanked and they cancelled everything. Then basically Disney relied on Lucasfilm for D+. Which is a shame because Star Wars movies are amazing. Here's hoping the movies that are being worked on now are made with care and go well.

I’ve been saying that for years. You guys constantly blame Kennedy for SW failures, when she has a boss that sets budgets okays things

Got any more excuses?

For real, I can't fathom why anyone would take up for this atrocity the way Zito has. Even if you disregard the blatant retconning, the show by itself is incredibly mediocre. Even if this were a stand alone show about a completely separate universe (something like Firefly for instance), this show would still not be good. The fact that they are effing with actual Star Wars continuity is what makes it a tragedy.

I mentally checked out after episode 3. I watched Ep. 4 but was on my phone some during the show (which I never do for movies/shows I enjoy) and probably have missed some details. It looks it has been confirmed that the Cerean Jedi is indeed Master Mundi..... why????

I get that Legends is no longer canon (if it ever really was) so I can accept he wasn't in his 60's during the clone wars. But even still, including him in the Acolyte officially affirms that he is at least 130ish years old during the Clone Wars. It will be interesting to see the spin this Sith story line, given that Mundi said they had been extinct for a millennia. I am not sure what the purpose was in having him in the show and basically retconning much of what we knew about him, when he had like 3 lines in the trilogies. There were far more interesting takes they could have gone with here.

I would really like an explanation as to why they continue to write unnecessary story lines that create huge plot holes in previous Star Wars film.

What spin do they need to make. if every person involved says there's no sith. Just like the Jedi masters did in TPM.It's not like after Maul killed QUi GOn they told the Senate a SIth Lord killed QUi Gon.

Hell I doubt most rank and file Jedi knew about that situation.

Anyway unless he sees the darkside user odds are it will be covered upbecause whomever the Master is will be a jedi they'll write it off as a fallen jedi.

Kennedy was named as Lucas' successor specifically with the idea that she understood Star Wars and would guide the franchise into it's next era. Disney wanted the IP and the ability to milk the franchises for money but they weren't going to interfere in the making of the movies.

Kennedy might have to answer about profits, losses, and budgets but these projects are ultimately her responsibility.

Boy howdy, funny how the finale of Doctor Who's newest season did the parentage thing 1000 times better than Rise of Skywalker.

Yikes. The acting of the twins gets worse if that’s possible.

I guess they just start over with characters since they all die. Not sure that episode did what they wanted it to.

At least we got a really good fight scene out of it.

Pretty good. Glossed over a bunch of them.

Punching a saber to make it temporarily disabled is certainly a method we haven’t seen employed before. Not sure that’s a wise path to take? Seems ignorant, cheap, and….idk what else

So short circuiting light sabers is a thing now.... Sure seems like a tactic other Siths would have picked up on rather easily. Yet over a hundred years into the future we never see it happen again.... seems legit.

Also, this Sith straight up destroys 5 Jedi attacking him at once, with relative ease. Then has trouble handling a padawan, because..... reasons.

The fight scenes overall were pretty good. I do think the actor that plays the Sith does a good job. And it was also cool to see hand to hand fighting, rather than simply a light saber duel. And for that, this episode was fairly decent, unlike the previous 2 episodes. But it's so damn frustrating seeing poor writing like this that completely disregards previous Star Wars filmography.

Yeah the short circuiting stuff was cringe

I guess they are saying without this he wouldn’t be able to take them down? Idk. It was dumb.

I thought Yord was some sort of good swordsman bc he was a guard ? He got dispatched twice easily. Awful character investment in this episode

An inherent flaw to storytelling prequels is how do you show something cool without stepping on the toes of what's existing. SOmething Lucas himself struggled with and probably had to tone down force powers in the prequels because of it. People wanted **** like Starkiller but when they get it they freak out because Vader couldn't do it.

Having fully digested the episode he was hitting their lightsabers it seems like damaging them. Not exactly ground breaking and I would guess it wasn't often used because Lucas likes his laser swords. But the real reason is the change in combat style.

Also he didn't destroy 5 jedi attacking him at once with ease that would be more like this,

You could have just said “yeah, it was dumb”

Honest question, if you find this so miserable, why do you keep watching? When I started disliking Lost or The Walking Dead I just stopped. It's not hard. Part of me thinks you like it but don't want to admit it because that would make you "cringe"

Because I generally like Star Wars stuff . The stories, lore, etc

I’m just not gonna bend over backward to avoid calling dog ****, what it is … dog ****

Why can’t you ?

I’ve continued to watch and rewatch lots of bad and poorly acted shows.
