It sucks Nacho has fell on his face in his short time in the bigs. I don't think it has drastically tainted his value, but surely if he was hitting .290 with 10 walks instead of 10 ks, someone would be more likely to buy the hype.
I don't know what it would take to get Crochet, but hopefully we could get him without giving up AJSS and Baldwin.
I'm not going to overreact on Alvarez. I still think there are questions regarding his ultimate ceiling and how much value he brings, but in the DH world, a 2B who can hit some and draw walks has value. I go on and on ad nauseum about it, but Alvarez probably isn't ready (now watch him hit .500 for the next week). It's a little different arc and we can hope it's the opposite of Grissom, who hit well and then tailed off after getting exposed. Maybe Alvarez gets going after he gets his feet wet. Has to be difficult to come to the majors and play a position you've never played as a pro.
The other question (and something I also went on and on about) was why they didn't invest more on the bench during the off-season. I get the luxury tax implications and all that, but there was really no excuse to go into the season without a reasonable back-up in case of injury. It's almost like the strategy was to have Benny Hinn in the dugout to provide healing services to the fallen so there was no need for depth.
