Trade targets?

It sucks Nacho has fell on his face in his short time in the bigs. I don't think it has drastically tainted his value, but surely if he was hitting .290 with 10 walks instead of 10 ks, someone would be more likely to buy the hype.

I don't know what it would take to get Crochet, but hopefully we could get him without giving up AJSS and Baldwin.

I'm not going to overreact on Alvarez. I still think there are questions regarding his ultimate ceiling and how much value he brings, but in the DH world, a 2B who can hit some and draw walks has value. I go on and on ad nauseum about it, but Alvarez probably isn't ready (now watch him hit .500 for the next week). It's a little different arc and we can hope it's the opposite of Grissom, who hit well and then tailed off after getting exposed. Maybe Alvarez gets going after he gets his feet wet. Has to be difficult to come to the majors and play a position you've never played as a pro.

The other question (and something I also went on and on about) was why they didn't invest more on the bench during the off-season. I get the luxury tax implications and all that, but there was really no excuse to go into the season without a reasonable back-up in case of injury. It's almost like the strategy was to have Benny Hinn in the dugout to provide healing services to the fallen so there was no need for depth.

I see the Dodgers picked up Amed Rosario from the Rays for journeyman RHP Michael Flynn (not that Michael Flynn), a 27-year-old who has never pitched in the major leagues. I thought Rosario would have been a nice pick-up and we probably could have gotten him for the whatever the equivalent of Flynn is in the Braves' system.

Less than 6 hours till the trade deadline and it would be hard to melt ice in this "hot stove."

The hell is going on?

Someone mentioned it earlier, but there are no stud names out there like Scherzer/Verlander/Soto etc. that everyone is dying over to see where they go.

Watching some video of Crochet. That dude has a pretty good arsenal and deceptive release point bc hes so big. He kind of reminds me of Sale a little bit. Hoping AA can pull something off but i doibt we get a guy that good.

It was exactly like this the morning of the trade deadline last year

Last year was very active, both the day of and the days leading up to it. Verlander speculation was happening all morning long. Lots of E-Rod and Cease speculation as well.

It's been a big ole bag of nothing burgers today.
