Just looking at it practically, if 90 wins is the benchmark to making the playoffs, the team has to go 55-32 the rest of the way to finish 90-72. Given the depth of the NL, even if the Brewers, Cardinals, Reds, and D'backs all fall off and behind you, you still need one of San Diego or San Francisco (who you're 1-9 against so far) to fall flat, so you probably need to add 2-3 more wins to get a playoff spot. So that's 58-29 to get to 93-69. But even just sticking with 90 wins as the ticket to a playoff berth, there is nothing about the way this team has played since late April/early May 2024 to suggest they have it in them to play at that pace for a sustained period. It's going to take a major roster shakeup, things that we don't really see coming. And again, AA cannot afford to wait four more weeks for the market to be more active.
