Everyone was relatively healthy and Strider was effectively replaced by Schwelly. Entering the deadline, we had Fried, Sale, Lopez, and Schwelly relatively healthy and pitching well. And Morton was more than an adequate No. 5. What we were asking for was a big bat to replace Acuna or a SS to replace Arcia. We never got it.
The hitting was an issue last year and the pitching barely got the team to the playoffs. Was just unfortunate that Sale got hurt. That said I'm not sure it would have mattered much. Losing Riley at the end of the year along with no Acuna and the offense just likely wasn't going to be good enough to make a run.
