2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Maybe I'm forgetting someone, but it seems we're at the point in the RP market where Iglesias is the best rental still "clearly available". The complicator is the "might-be available" group: Bednar, Fairbanks, Suarez, Doval, Jax, etc. Teams that may still be in the high-leverage RP market: NYY, BOS, TEX, CHC, LAD, CIN.
And then Bednar pops.

These deadlines are a big game of musical chairs. Once the buyers are gone you don't want to be the one holding out for a bigger deal that never comes.

AA missed the run on BP arms, so hopefully the desperate buyer emerges who didn't get their top target.

The Tigers just DFA'd Matt Manning from their 40 man. A guy with a career 4.43 ERA in 254 MLB innings (4.88 ERA in 2024). And we're out here starting the rotting corpse of Carlos Carrasco who has a combined ERA over 6 the last 3 seasons......

Ever heard of Trea Turner? James Wood? Max Fried? Josh Naylor? MacKenzie Gore? David Bednar? CJ Abrams? Emmanual Clase?

Preller has unloaded an impressive amount of young talent. How he keeps reloading it is crazy.
The Juan Soto trade alone should have got him fired. Imagine adding Gore, Abrams, and Woods to their current squad.

Anthopoulos may stupidly sit on his hands and make no more moves this deadline, but the certainty with which you say things sometimes astounds me. How can you definitively say “the run on bullpen arms has happened and it’s over now”? Like, that’s not even evidence-based—there are still plenty of BP arms on the market.

He will be a Brave by the weekend.
