Minor League Thread Part Deux

Any word on who might join the Braves' big league roster starting today? I think it's limited to three players. I can remember during the Braves' down years in the 1980s, they would call up six or seven guys. I think MLB put a stop to that practice because for teams out of the running, the games looked like spring training scrimmages.

Last week of the minor league season for the lower levels. Last year the Braves brought Caminiti up to start a game in the final week for Augusta. Curious to see if they do the same thing with Briggs McKenzie before Sunday.

Has Briggs even pitched yet?

19yo SS John Gil in Augusta has a 1.033 OPS the 2nd half of this season in 123 PAs. That includes 5 homers, 9 doubles, and 1 triple. He is sure to fly up some prospect lists this winter.

Cody Miller is one I'd keep my eye on. We obviously need to see more and see how he progresses through the levels, but I'm extremely high on him. I spoke with one of the guys who covers our minor league system extensively the other day, and he said that Miller might be the absolute gem of this past draft

The farm is a consensus bottom-tier system, but I've seen multiple lists mention guys like Caminiti, Murphy and Ritchie being top-100 prospects if they keep producing. Couple that with the potential of a top-five pick and another right after the first for Drake winning ROTY, and we could have a near top-10 farm in 2026. I'm not saying all those things are going to happen, but there's a real chance we see a totally different narrative in a couple months.

Time to stop worrying about where the pundits rank the system while it's pumping out quality players every year

We promote them before they ever get too much press. It seems like we ID guys that pop before the scouting services do, and get MLB innings out of them instead of letting them climb the lists.

I do wonder what value these pundit lists bring with respect to trade value. I know teams have their own independent valuation of other teams players but I imagine consensus rankings do offer a lot of short hand value.
