Weiss should be given a token interview if he wants the job, but should not be under serious consideration. Him and Fredi should both leave after a new manager is chosen.

Definitely a player’s manager…based on what Cubs fans have said the players would absolutely love him but they questioned his bullpen management and lineup construction (sound familiar)…people can change tho

I'm sure it would be easier. I just don't get the allure of hiring a college coach to manage an MLB manager.

I don't even understand the theory behind hiring him. Sounds like total bullshit.

I mentioned Gibbons as a possibility the other day. I wouldn't discount him. He wouldn't be a 180 from Snitker, but his demeanor is a lot different.

As will I. Snitker called out Acuna for a baserunning blunder and Acuna balked at the criticism. Gibbons would go straight for the fisticuffs.

An A+ hire would be to find a guy that can connect with Acuna enough to get him to make some changes to his game without the drama.

Being bilingual and being able to make common sense leverage moves would be a huge plus. That and not having a bunch of AAAA players on the roster.

Chipper was on the radio show today. Said his family has given him the OK to go back to full time. He said he doesn’t want to be a manager (yet) but could be a hitting coach.

If that’s the case whomever AA hires as next manager better know AA is gonna have Chipper on staff regardless of who is at the top step of the dugout.

If true this is a bigger deal than any managerial choice. My uninformed opinion is chipper has more to do with the offensive success of this club than any other non-player in the entire organization.

The clear best option available is Melvin with chipper as hitting coach.

Chipper fixing Riley and getting him back to an .850 OPS hitter would be nice

That's a big challenge. Acuna is an all-world talent, but it's almost like he's turning into Manny Ramirez between the ears.

Speaking of Manny, his malingering will probably keep him out of the Hall of Fame, but 81.8 bOWAR is awfully impressive. Career 555 HR and OPS of .996. Of course, you have to consider the -21.7 bDWAR as well (did he ever throw to the right base?).I

EDIT: Scratch my Manny HoF speculation. Totally forgot he was suspended for PED use. Too bad Peter Thiel and Elon Musk weren't co-commissioners. The only reason they would have suspended him is that he wasn't using more PEDs.
