REAL FOOTBALL Thread

He's never been that good when he's had to be anything other than a bus driver. I would not take him on a team that doesn't have a strong defense and good run game.

Yeah. Smith is maybe the best game manager QB there is. But that's how he rolls. He won't win you games. That's why he's not a great QB. You can do much worse but you can also do much better. If the Chiefs had Ryan or Romo instead of Smith they're probably equals to the Broncos.

To add to my point. James did that in 11 seasons. So no way Gore in the same number of season without getting like 2500 yards in the next 2 years.

James in 9 seasons had 11,607 yards 77 TDs 3260 receiving 11 receiving TDs.

Gore in his 9 seasons has 9967 yards 80 TDs 2772 receing 10 receiving TDs.

I think it's clear that James>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gore and if you think Gore has a shot it's clear James should be in. Or at least be considered borderline.

You essentially proved my point when i said I would only partially consider him if he has 3-4 more years minimum of good production. Notice I never said Gore was better than James?

Out of this years rookie class, Who ends up with the best NFL career?

While I think Clowney will be huge, I honestly think that Mack and Robinson will have better careers. You don't really see a ton of ridiculously good OTs... but, I think Robinson has a real good shot at being something special for the Rams... which, will suck for the Niners.

And if in 3-4 years gore gets in the HOF with numbers close to James in many more years, how is James not a borderline HOF?

Again, I said in 3-4 years he may be considered a candidate not that he would be assured of it.

How? I'd say consistency and a long career would give Gore the nod in that scenario, instead of basically falling off the face of the earth like James did. However, I highly doubt that Gore gets to that point. He is good, but def not HoF worthy, nor is James.

So you think if Gore plays 3-4 more effective years he has a shot, but James isn't borderline? If gore has a shot with barely better numbers, then why isn't James borderline?

Two day 3 rookies who Kiper thinks could make an impact this year:

Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta

Steven Jackson will be 31 and coming off a year where he averaged 3.5 yards per carry -- a career low. If you think that doesn't exactly crown Freeman as the starter, consider that Atlanta hasn't taken an RB in the first four rounds since 2006. They like Freeman, and they know how to draft at the position. Jacquizz Rodgers is still around, but don't be surprised if the durable Freeman gets a shot.

Bruce Ellington, WR, San Francisco

Total steal. And he can stretch the field. South Carolina passers completed 19-of-30 of 15-plus yards to Ellington last year, per ESPN Stats & Information, the best rate in the SEC. A two-sport player at South Carolina, Ellington could play a role. To me, he was a not-too-poor man's Brandin Cooks, who went No. 20 overall.

Problem with Ellington is Crabtree, Boldin and Johnson. he'll fight for PT.

They run a bunch of different formation sets and he will probably be the KR/PR because I expect James to be traded. But, you're right there won't be a crazy amount of playing time and don't forget about Patton who showed some nice things last year.

??? Why not? Until the drugs laws change, it is still against the law. They shouldn't discipline players for breaking the law?

It's not against the law in Colorado and Washington. Just cause something is against the law doesn't mean it's onto the NFL to enforce the laws of the USA in terms of suspending a player. If a player goes to jail that's it. NFL can choose to make pot punishable or not.

And how does that look for a league that's trying to be strict about their players staying out of trouble? They are just going to look past it when a player gets arrest for possession? Just cause Colorado and Washington make it legal doesn't make it okay for someone in living in TX to do it.

I don't care about pot. I've smoked it myself a couple times, but if someone gets busted for it, they knew they were doing something illegal, and they deserve whatever consequences those are.

Make the punishment less severe is fine with me. But until pot is legal everywhere (or at least in the majority is US states) then there should def be some punishment by the league.

Getting busted for possession, DUI, etc. is one thing. NFL drug test isn't legally binding, a player with THC found in their system aren't turned over to the police. They get fined and suspended.

RG3 is leaner so he is going to look stronger. I'm sure they are comparable and you are comparing two incredible athletes to eachother.
