Texas needs a C and Murphy would save Texas money like it's been reported they need to do.This makes me think they’re actually going to move Murphy. No way we’re going to pay $15m for him to back up Baldwin and DH vs lefties.
B Ref said 2.8 but yeah 2 years is more than I thought but this just signals they have money to spend.I didn't realize Yaz was worth 2.7 War last year. Definitely don't let him face a lefty pitcher though. Very surprised this took 2 years. He's 35
Murph plus others for Seager would help both teams. Dont know how realistic though.Texas needs a C and Murphy would save Texas money like it's been reported they need to do.
We’ll see, but I’m fine paying him that. Let Baldwin continue learning from him. Murphy did wonders for Waldrep last year and turned his career around. This makes me think they’re actually going to move Murphy. No way we’re going to pay $15m for him to back up Baldwin and DH vs lefties.
I think we just have a little PTSD from last off-season. If we're still planning to bring in a legit SS and a good SP, these are great moves. It's funny how many people (rightfully so) bitched and complained about depth for more than a year, but the Braves start making quality depth moves and people absolutely lose it. Yaz and Dubón aren't superstars, but they can be essential pieces.
I wonder how much the Rangers would eat if we sent Sean Murphy, Waldrep, Nacho, and Owen Murphy.Murph plus others for Seager would help both teams. Dont know how realistic though.
Dubon's absolutely fine as the backup infielder. But he cant be the starting shortstop on OD.It's funny how many people (rightfully so) bitched and complained about depth for more than a year, but the Braves start making quality depth moves and people absolutely lose it. Yaz and Dubón aren't superstars, but they can be essential pieces.
Agreed. I just don't think this is even a top 3 move for us. SS, SP, and a RP are needed and they'll probably be with better players than Yaz. We needed another good OF and it's just a 2 year deal.I think we just have a little PTSD from last off-season. If we're still planning to bring in a legit SS and a good SP, these are great moves.
If this is our big off-season moves.....yeesh.
I mean, Seager has 6/189 left on his deal, thats honestly market value at this point. But you'd hope a little bit if we gave them a good prospect in return plus Murphy.I wonder how much the Rangers would eat if we sent Sean Murphy, Waldrep, Nacho, and Owen Murphy.
I like Yaz, but there has to more moves coming, more importantly, SS/SP/RP, in whatever order. If this doesnt preclude that, i'm good with it. If not...I think we just have a little PTSD from last off-season. If we're still planning to bring in a legit SS and a good SP, these are great moves.
If Dubon, Iggy, and Yaz are our big off-season moves...yeesh.
I'm with you. It's definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully we never see Eli White again.Get him (and Harris) a platoon partner and get an everyday SS and that’s a very nice off-season on the offensive and fielding side of the ball.
