But at least you’re done comparing the challenge with Germany that doesn’t exist with Venezuela. We will get the outcome of Germany much faster.
 
Maduro is a thug and will probably be convicted in a court of law. His removal from power is probably a good thang for the U.S. and Venezuela and the rest of the world. I say probably because I think the fallout from his extraction and arrest is hard to predict and has a wide range of possibilities.

It is worth noting that the distance from Taiwan to China is 81 miles. Distance from Venezuela to the U.S. is 1,073 miles. China has a much larger geopolitical stake in eliminating a hostile (from their point of view) power so close to their shores than we have in eliminating such a power in Venezuela. Taiwan is closer to mainland China than Cuba is to Key West (90 miles).

I don't think we should stop the CCP from taking Taiwan. As you said, that is there backyard.

What we have to do is use our levers of power without military to incentivize them or punish them for doing it.

Even more important to onshore more production.

At least you are consistent. The proximity (backyard) argument could be a very destabilizing one. South Korea and Japan are also much closer to China than Venezuela is to the United States. South Korea and Japan have strong military alliances with China's main geopolitical competitor. They host large U.S. military bases.

I think over a long timeline SK/Japan are at very much risk of this.

Just like the CCP sold weapons systems to Venezuela we have done and will continue do the same with SK/Japan.

Lets see who has the best tech / military strategy.

The reality is that as long as we have people like Trump who actually understand the threat of the CCP they will continue to be defanged where these aspirations just don't make sense for them.
