Minor League Thread Part Deux

Michael Martinez with another 100+ MPH single. Forking Hell.

There are hot streaks and then there is whatever Michael Martinez is doing in the FCL.

I did the work so you don't have to. I pulled the EV data from Michael Martinez in the FCL so far (minus 2 games which didn't have any tracking info).

He has put 20 balls into play that we have data on. The average EV on those 20 balls is a ridiculous 95.375 and he's already topping out at 112. This kid is 19 folks and is already putting up 99th percentile EVs.

Is that a 99th percentile in FCL?

Braves are on a prospects heater.

A 95 MPH average EV is 99th percentile in the entirety of baseball. Aaron Judge is the premier power hitter of this generation and has a career EV of 95 MPH for reference.

The caveat is that it's only been 21 PAs worth of batted ball data, so it's still a really small sample. Exit velocities generally don't stabilize until after 40-60 PAs. But the 112 max EV is definitely elite for a 19 year old. Acuna was maxing out around 113 as a 19 year old, for reference.

I wrote this about Michael in February :
Michael Martinez – You mean the Braves have a toolsy, athletic OF’er who can barrel baseballs consistently, is a plus runner and he has results? Sign me up…and why isn’t he rated higher. I think he has a chance to really do some things this year, and I’m interested in seeing if his power translates as he moves up and gets a full season under his belt. If it weren’t for Diego Tornes, he’d be my favorite positional prospect. I’ll get more eyes on him this season.

He's another guy that can really be talked about more if he shows the same aptitude moving up. Again, I'm kinda speechless by the build of the farm. I was critical of AA the last 2 or so offseasons, but his reluctance to mortgage the farm looks like it will pay huge dividends in the next year. I am extremely happy.

So let me get this straight…..
We went from Perdomo to:

Hartman
Gil
Tornes
Southesine
And now Martinez too
And the 5.5M international SS cat….
Plus all the other ones Deester found that I’m forgetting…..

Just damn
