Interesting that he didn't throw the curveball, as that was his calling card as a draft prospect. So the Braves are either not letting him throw it to develop other pitches, or it's registering as a slider. Not sure which it is.
Right, but he threw plenty of changeups and sliders. At this level they focus on the fastball.
Steroids.I did the work so you don't have to. I pulled the EV data from Michael Martinez in the FCL so far (minus 2 games which didn't have any tracking info).
He has put 20 balls into play that we have data on. The average EV on those 20 balls is a ridiculous 95.375 and he's already topping out at 112. This kid is 19 folks and is already putting up 99th percentile EVs.
Ridiculous.Martinez just hit his third homer. Gotta think he’ll be in Augusta soon.
Is that a 99th percentile in FCL?I did the work so you don't have to. I pulled the EV data from Michael Martinez in the FCL so far (minus 2 games which didn't have any tracking info).

A 95 MPH average EV is 99th percentile in the entirety of baseball. Aaron Judge is the premier power hitter of this generation and has a career EV of 95 MPH for reference. Is that a 99th percentile in FCL?
Braves are on a prospects heater.
7, by my count.CYs mom has more than three holes
I wrote this about Michael in February :
Michael Martinez – You mean the Braves have a toolsy, athletic OF’er who can barrel baseballs consistently, is a plus runner and he has results? Sign me up…and why isn’t he rated higher. I think he has a chance to really do some things this year, and I’m interested in seeing if his power translates as he moves up and gets a full season under his belt. If it weren’t for Diego Tornes, he’d be my favorite positional prospect. I’ll get more eyes on him this season.
He's another guy that can really be talked about more if he shows the same aptitude moving up. Again, I'm kinda speechless by the build of the farm. I was critical of AA the last 2 or so offseasons, but his reluctance to mortgage the farm looks like it will pay huge dividends in the next year. I am extremely happy.
