REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I would call being done at 33 is pretty young if you compare McNabb to some of his compatriots like Brady, Peyton, etc.

Vick is playing, but considering he can't stay on th efield and has missed 2 seasons (really pretty much 3) because of dog fighting. I'd guess his career is pretty much donzo.

Guys who were considered top QBs ending their career before 35 is pretty bad now a days. COmpare to say Brady, Brees, Peyton, Hasselbeck, Favre, Testaverde, so on so forth. Even today guys like Eli, Rivers, and Palmer don't seem that old despite all of them coming into their mid 30s or already being there.

He does have a strong arm but has issues with accuracy downfiels as many QBs do. His concerns are mental.

I watched him a ton last year and his downfield throws were not good. He didn't throw it deep often, and when he did it wasn't on a rope by any means.

I hate how the NFL is threatening to force teams to do Hard Knocks. If an organization doesn't want to do that I don't see why they should have to.

Then why do Eli and Palmer suck now?

McNabb was a solid QB, never a top guy.

I haven't watched in yeas, but why would anyone watch Hard Knocks on the Falcons? They gonna feature the awesome personality of Matt Ryan? (similar to featuring Andy Dalton)

I have no idea, ask hbo. I think Atlanta has declined the offer a few times over the passed three or four years.

Eli has sucked for 1 season, Palmer was average last year. Sure he's no Matt Ryan, but he could be worse.

When McNabb actually had weapons he was one of the top 10 QBs in the NFL at worse. McNabb started his career out with absolute buttcheeks as weapons which effect his overall numbers. Like honestly I cannot think of a team in the NFL that had worse weapons than what McNabb started his career out with (Johnson and Small to start, then Pinkston and Trash, errrrr Thrash, can't forget the incomparable Freddie Mitchell)

We need Hard Knocks to cover the 49ers. We can see Kaep naked all the time!

Did someone say naked Kap?

Zito you're going full Zito today. "When the Niners aren't as good, Kap will run more and will therefore get hurt" is like me saying Matt Ryan is prone to injury because the Falcons O-Line could be terrible in a couple years.

Last year he avoided any and all big hits (other than the Matthews cheap shot) until the playoffs when he turned it up and made riskier runs. That's exactly what you're supposed to do. I don't even see how you can counter that with a logical argument.

Actually I think his problem is when he has to throw more and stretch his runs. I don't think he'll run more but he may consider that extra 2 yards well worth it. Or sitting in the pocket longer.

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Kaep for some reason has a rap of being a dumb kid. That couldn't be further from the truth. He knows what he needs to do to stay healthy and gets it done.

It has nothing to do with being dumb and everything to do with being competitive. you don't get to the level of the NFL without being hyper competitive. When he's got to carry the team. Not just play to not make mistakes things will be very different. Trust me I've watched it happen plenty of times.

Play to limit mistakes? Thats absurd. You obviously don't watch Kaep play. Kaep plays smart and he hasn't always had his defense play great for him (2012 playoffs) and he still excelled. Its like you go out of your way to knock these new QB's because you are afraid they will all be better than Ryan or something. Its so strange.

Physics also works if the QB is moving away from a hit out of hte pocket it reduces the force while a standing target absorbs more from the same moving target.

Again, if you can't see why a QB is more likely to get injured running out of the pocket, then there is no use arguing with you.
