Bethancourt

Now seeing them with fresh memory ... I prefer Oso to CB as to how he frames and receives...

Can we sew CBs arm on the white bear? I think we have the technology...

and lateral movement, 6'4 260 has difficulty doing it, 6'2 wiry and 180 is much easier.

Get real...Gattis is not all that either. He is on this team because of his bat not his defensive ability. Bethancourt for now is our catching future because Gattis will likely be in the AL or out of baseball entirely in five years.

Couldn't agree more, if only we had a real stud like Wilson Ramos.

He's already showing signs of being injury prone plus he's 27 years old. The next Bob Horner. Plus he's a catcher and not a great one at that. For the record, Laird is not the defensive specialist he was supposed to be either. Bethancourt is the best catcher we honestly have right now.

Don't think Bethancourt is the best.

2014 OPS

Gattis .884
Laird .639
Bethancourt .543

The offensive difference between Gattis and Bethancourt is so huge that it is inconceivable that it could be made up on the defensive side.

Bethancourt better than Gattis? That's a really, really interesting opinion.
Now I know you are new to watching baseball.

nope, Bethancourt's the better athlete and better defender right now. I will agree with you hitting wise. Did you not see the throw he made the other night? Gattis has already made two trips to the dl in two years. The HRs are sexy, but CB will hit enough given time.

For the most part too many fans today get tied up in the numbers and don't use their eyes.

Of course not, we know where your eyes and hands are though and.....the jar of Vaseline. A poster of CB on one wall, a poster of Bryce Harper on the other wall, and then on the fore wall is the Washington Nationals team pic...and I would bet you put porn-stache Adam Morrison style on few of the players, like Werth thinking Brokenback Mountain style fun.

no...and another personal attack you need some big boy britches too.

It's a personal failing. I'm probably going to hell.

Oh, and while you're right not to over rely on the numbers, a .300 gap in OPS is pretty hard to ignore. Bethancourt throws well, I'll give you that. Gattis' CS % is more than respectable. And that's just a tiny fraction of what makes a catcher.

Carry on. But remember, I still know where the emoticons are.

I watch a fair number of games. It occurs to me that hitting is part of the game. When evaluating who is the best at a particular position, I take into account hitting, defense and base running. There is no doubt that Gattis is a better catcher than Bethancourt.
