GDT: 7/31/14...10:10 PM EST Start...Braves (No Heyward) vs. Dodgers

Yep. If Heyward was in and we hadn't had the base runner blunder from last night as well as tonight we might have taken 2 out of 3.

I guess Heyward actually does bring value, yes? There must be a reason in is tops in DRS and his defense and base running alone should keep his WAR decent. And he gets you a clutch base hit too.

This team is going to have to grow the **** up in August, plain and simple. They're going to have to find a way to beat good pitching. When the game's on the line, our 3-5 hitters are going to have to manage to get the ball out of the infield. We get the Padres this weekend and then it's right back to strong teams. Dodgers, Nats, As, Pirates. Put up or shut up.

We only lost a game during the sweep the Nats went 1-2. I think maybe we should start thinking of the Braves as a wild card team and take a chance at the division as a good thing. Secure the wild card and get hot in October it's our ONLY chance it seems

I wanted to sign him long term two years ago and disagreed with waiting when we signed others. Given his defense I'd go ahead and lock him up next before anyone else.

Bull**** excuse

Oakland a's

Sorry. Beane is a genius. Has been for 2 decades and plenty baseball purists and statheads know this.. If you want to use one example out of a 30 team league than perhaps we aren't as bad as you think we are. As have been just as successful getting out of the first round as we have.

Check this out:

Tom Hart ‏@tom_hart 57s
Clayton Kershaw got Justin Upton and Evan Gattis to pop out to Dee Gordon. The remaining 25 outs were on groundouts (12, 3 DP), K (9), CS.

Just dang.

How about one more nugget:

Bill Shaikin ‏@BillShaikin 13m
Clayton Kershaw since June 1: 10-0, 0.94 ERA, 8 BB, 104 K.

That's amazing but Julio was damn good today too it's was nice to see composure from Julio especially after that nlds meltdown last year. Julio and Alex both showed they can pitch in big spots I think we can take pride in that

This is silly... They beat us in extras yesterday and are up 2 tonight.

We lead the first game...

We are playing in their park at 11:00 Atlanta time for each start...

And if we play them in the playoffs, we'll be playing them (more than likely) a minimum of two times in their park at what will be, what, 10:00 Atlanta time? I may be overreacting a bit, but they're still clearly a better, more complete team than us.

No doubt about that. Julio and Alex showed they can pitch in big spots. Alex got no help and Julio was opposed by the best MLB has to offer right now

I may be crazy but I'm still expecting minor to come up big in the last 70 or so games .. Julio, minor , wood not a bad 3 in a short series

Minor hasn't proven much this year. If season ended now I'd probably give Ervin a chance to start a game before Minor.

Julio definitely had a big game, but he still wasn't good enough early on, and it cost him. Kershaw is a damn machine. Looking back on the series, we should have won last night and had a chance to win Tuesday as well. That doesn't matter though. We lost.

I forgot about Ervin yah he would be my 3rd starter. I would do Teheran,Wood,Santana, Minor I love what Harang has done but I want no part of him starting a playoff game
