GDT: 7/31/14...10:10 PM EST Start...Braves (No Heyward) vs. Dodgers

Julio definitely had a big game, but he still wasn't good enough early on, and it cost him. Kershaw is a damn machine. Looking back on the series, we should have won last night and had a chance to win Tuesday as well. That doesn't matter though. We lost.

Julio is human unlike Kershaw I have no problem with his outing

We only lost a game during the sweep the Nats went 1-2. I think maybe we should start thinking of the Braves as a wild card team and take a chance at the division as a good thing. Secure the wild card and get hot in October it's our ONLY chance it seems

Do you realize there is no second place team closer to first than the braves. Should they throw in the towel on the division too?

Heyward said his back is improving but he won't be in the line-up tomorrow. So that probably means Bonifacio first start will come in right field tomorrow night. It will be interesting to see where he hits in the line-up given his numbers vs lefties. He should lead off but my guess is Fredi will have BJ leading off as usual.

Please God, let it be Schafer gone.

"Either way," she added later, "Schafer sucks ass."

Are u freaking kidding me? What did I say that was wrong. We are a wild card team with a chance to win the division. Since when is getting into the playoffs a bad thing. Look at this objectively our offense has been inconsistent we lost 3 of our starting pitchers, avilan and carpenter have been subpar where is my analysis wrong or disparaging? I believe in the Braves but facts are facts the Nats are a more complete team right now.

He feels better, but he wants to give it another couple weeks.

Even though we lost, we did do some things that Kershaw fans will hate. One, as a strikeout team, with a complete game, he couldn't hit double digits which beat a streak similar when Dale Murphy stopped Opie's streak. Two, he didn't get a shut out.

At least we can claim something.

Your analysis is wrong in that you assume a team that is 1.5 games ahead of us after 100+ games and has spent much of the season behind us is so much better than us. I could provide you with no less than 100 quotes from nats fans posting that the braves are far better and the Nats have no chance. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Right now their fans are raging about how crappy the Nats are for losing 2-3 to the phillies.

I'm just saying if we end up as the wild card team it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. If we do not win the division the season is not a failure that's all I'm saying

And I never disagreed with that. Odds are we will be fighting for a playoff spot down to the last few games. There are only a few teams whose season doesn't end in heart break. The champions and the teams who knew they had no chance before the season even started like Mets and phillies.

Well, maybe JT got the West Coast yips out of his system.

Poor kid could have 14-16 wins with any luck, er, run support, at all.

If the Dodgers don't alter their rotation, it looks like the Braves should miss Kershaw during the 4 game series in Atlanta.

His next outings should be

Tues 8/5 vs. LAA

Sun 8/10 @ MIL

Fri 8/15 vs MIL

Too bad for the Brewers if that is correct.

Two things I learned from this series:

1. Our young studs can hang with the Dodgers' studs. If we make the postseason, we may not win anything, but we'll hold our own pitching wise.

2. Our offense sucks.
