Ferguson....

Absolutely. I'm a man who is guided by principals of individual liberty, which absolutely includes property rights.

But stealing cigars does not constitute a military invasion. Of course, I realize I'm in the minority here, which is sad

WOW

Stealing cigars did not prompt the "military invasion". But, if Brown didn't steal the cigars, none of this would have happened. That can't be denied.

Whats happening in Fergueson is an example of a police state that is bringing us to hell?

It's funny… the stuff that [my chosen political philosophy] have been warning about for years - [pick something], [my pet issue], [personal hobbyhorse], and [something else]… continue to get laughed at. And continue to get worse

Now we can all play.

So, you are saying he bum rushed the cop because he was stopping him for a robbery that the cop did not know about until later and just told them to get off the street..........allegedly?

Apparently he told them to get out of the middle of the street and the accomplish mouthed off, the cop drove a little ways and turned around. Noticed the cigars in his hand and how he fit the description and that's when they started wrasslin.

Either way, Brown likely assumed he was about to get detained for the stolen cigars.

Why else would Brown push cop into the door?

I don't know what the timeline is but I remember seeing an interview with the police chief stating that the officer was informed of the robbery prior to the shooting. That could be wrong.

Michael Brown was identified as a suspect in a strong-arm robbery of a box of cigars moments before he was shot to death by Officer Darren Wilson, police said Friday. - USA Today

For what reason would you ever bum rush a cop?

We don't know and that is what I am saying. We don't know what happened. We have so many versions coming out slanted by whatever side want to slant.

That's what's so confounding to me, reading through this thread: the disproportionateness of a response isn't justified simply because some response may or may not have been justified. It's still disproportionate.

We generally have two different versions.....

The one from the accomplice and the female (who was facing opposite side of car so had trouble seeing the wrestling). They claim Brown was shot from feet away with his back to the cop and while he had hands up. The autopsy has revealed that he was not shot in the back

vs.

The version of the cop and the eyewitness in the background of the video posted earlier. This version fits the version told by the autopsy.

You can slant whatever version you want, but the autopsy doesn't lie.

Thats what I'm thinking now. How could anyone believe the initial accounts of the incident when they basically all ended with Brown shot in the back as he was running away. It doesn't jive anymore.

Actually the police chief did not say that:

"The department also released documents about the circumstances of the shooting — suggesting that Brown was the primary suspect in a "strong-arm robbery" of a convenience store shortly before Wilson encountered him. However, in a later press conference that same day, the Ferguson Police Chief clarified that officer Wilson did not know about the robbery at the time of his initial contact with Brown. Rather, Wilson stopped the teenager for walking in the middle of the street."

You are talking about the initial contact. They discuss how while trying to talk to Brown the officer noticed the cigars.

Yes, and that is where the escalation probably took place. Brown didn't want to be charged with a crime he knew he committed.

Again, it goes back to the robbery. If Brown did not commit that crime none of this would have happened. Instead of blaming the officers, why don't we blame Brown?

a man gets pulled over for speeding. The police offer shoots him in the head. Thethe's response would be, "Yeah it's wrong to shoot him in the head. But if he never was speeding in the first place, this never would have happened. Instead of blaming the officer, why don't we blame the guy speeding?"

Did the man speeding physically assault the cop while he was stopped?

In Brief: A Thought Experiment on Ferguson

Let us say, and why not, that starting last week, large groups of armed black men and women blockaded the roads to their neighborhood in Ferguson, Missouri. Let us say, and, indeed, why not, that those armed African-Americans said that they were sick and tired of being bullied by the government in the form of the police, with the killing of Michael Brown being the last straw, the one that broke the mother****in' camel's back.

And maybe they would declare that they were engaged in an act of civil disobedience against government overreach, that they had the right to walk the streets without being constantly subject to government interference in their daily lives. Perhaps the leaders of the protest would declare that God told them to stand up to the authorities. Perhaps they'd even say that they don't recognize the legitimacy of the police force. Perhaps they'd demand a restoration of government welfare programs that have been cut. Perhaps African-Americans from other cities would show up, armed, to join the Ferguson residents in defiance.

Then, let's say, and, remember, we're still in the realm of fantasy here, just having fun, you know, that a group of law enforcement officers, maybe cops, maybe state troopers, showed up with their armed vehicles and pointed their guns at the protesters. And then the protesters pointed all their guns back, declaring that they were willing to die, that they were making a stand and no one was going to get them to end it or take away their guns.

What would happen? Would law enforcement back down? Would they drive their BearCats back to the station? Would they lower their weapons and leave? Would senators stand with the Ferguson rebels? Would Fox "news" invite them on to praise their attack on a government gone mad?

Or would the cops just ****ing waste them because they aren't white ranchers like Cliven Bundy, wanting free **** from the government? Hell, look what the cops are doing now and the Ferguson protesters have done nothing remotely as violent or threatening as the Bundy ranch assholes.

As for the Tea Party and the NRA, all those brave people who stand for "freedom" have pretty much scattered like fleas on an itchy dog and run when it comes time to oppose actual violence, not just playing cowboy. Freedom ain't free, but it sure is white.
