Latos going to #Marlins for DeSclafani and Chad Wallach.

Not sure if this was posted, but the Padres got Kemp at $15M per year and a young catcher for Grandal, Weiland and Eflin. That's not much of a return, and I would have liked to see Kemp in RF for the Braves for the next 5 years at $15M per.

Federowicz is a backup guy, so he's OK. I agree though, that's not much of a return. I think Justin only having one year of control at a really good price could actually help his market.

I see that we could of probably had enough to make some of these trades happen with Atlanta. I would of loved to of found a way to get either Latos or Simon.

Something needs to happen soon in the trade department or we need to commit to keeping Justin and extending him. This lack of decision making could lead us nowhere pretty quickly because the Marlins and Mets are getting better (and healthier) and the Nats are already above us.

We 100% could have beat that offer for Latos, IMO.
Not too interested in Simon.

Masterson for 9m is a good signing. But with some patience we can do better. The trade price for Latos is one more data point showing this is a buyer's market for starting pitching.

The main reason I wanted Masterson was that he had a very strong chance of rebounding and either being flipped at the deadline, or given a QO after the season. That would have injected more young talent into the organization, while trading for another SP does exactly the opposite.

Signing and SP who turned down a QO is obviously a deal breaker this offseason.

Are there any other FA SPs out there that are candidates for 1-2 year deals that could rebound enough to merit a QO at the end of a short contract? As far as I knew, Masterson was the only player like that out there.
