GM/Winter Meetings Thread

Kemp is injury prone and way over paid. He should be playin a corner spot bc he's not a very good cf'er.

With the exception of 2012 and 2013, he's been durable.

Even still, like i said, would imagine LA eats some of the deal to get better prospects back.

Heaney+ for Kendrick is good news for us. Kendrick is a FA after 2015 as well, and while 2B is a more in-demand position, RH power is also a valuable commodity. We should be able to get a really nice young player or two.

The Dodgers have a money advantage. They don't care that Gordon provides value, they want production and can pay for it. Kendrick is production. Consistent and steady.

So they traded Dee Gordon, 10 million, and Dan Haren for Howie Kendrick?

They shed Haren's money (most likely since he's gonna retire), upgraded at 2B immensely, and have a really good catcher prospect in Barnes, and got a reliever who struck out 5 time more people than he walked in 60 innings. All for Dee Gordon.

Incredible.

Good news I think. Angels got Heaney for one year of Kendrick. Braves should do better than that with Upton.

I guess this is why Andrew Friedman is earning $35MM.

Jeff Passan on Heaney earlier: "Andrew Heaney in particular is a polarizing player. Marlins were down on him, and some don't see him as much more than a back-end starter."

I am having Andy Marte flashbacks.

Brandon McCarthy 4 years at 12M/year. Or 6M/projected win. Very good signing by the Dodgers imo. And another data point supporting the view that this off-season is a buyer's market for pitching (relative to hitters).

Would have given him that in a heartbeat to come here.

Yea. Supposedly haren has been acting like a lil btch about it too.

He had previously said he would retire rather than not play ball on the west coast, but he has 10 million reasons to gut it out. I think he ends up playing, but retires after.

That was probably just a ploy to try and keep teams from being interested in him.
