Braves Trade Deadline Rumors

I really think we could've gotten Peavy based on what Boston gave up.

The prospects were definitely not the thing that squashed the deal.

I don't know what in the world the Tigers were thinking.

We don't have a hitter close to Garcia in our system.

My issue with Peavy was committing that much money to him next year and probably the next as well. Not the price to get him.

Tigers need a SS, their INF D is probably the worst in baseball, or close to it. It's easier to sign an OF with 20-25 HR pop than it is to find an Iglesias for the next 6 years. (assuming he continues to hit)

Could we have topped Avisail Garcia? That's basically what the White Sox got. The only one of our prospects that could top Garcia is Alex Wood. Would you trade Wood for Peavy?

The Sox didn't give up Garcia. They suckered the Tigers into giving him up. Garcia is over rated based mostly on his BABIP he put up in the minors.

I understand. But any offer on our part would have had to top what the White Sox actually received as part of that three-way deal.

Not a Peavy fan. Injury prone and getting old with poor mechanics. No way I trade him for Wood

Welcome to the board. We saw you were asking where everyone went yesterday and patio aka jerry deleted your post.

Well guess you got your answer. Everyone is here.

Not sure how he's overrated....haven't seen anyone call him a superstar or anything. He's a very solid prospect, #73 preseason per BA. Should be a 280-290 hitter that hits 20-25 HR's. He's only 22

What prospect do we have that compares to that?

I think that's Garcia's ceiling. And I think Terdo has a similar ceiling as a switch hitter. Just talking about hitting here.

Well Detroit needs a SS with Peraltas looming suspension.

And who do we have that's close to Garcia?

I don't think he's a superstar but 280 AVG, and 20 Hr's is a fair projection.
