Spring Training 2015

This seems promising . . .

Prospect Mauricio Cabrera just hit 101 on the radar gun here at Disney. Followed that with a change at 91. Yikes. #Braves

Cabrera blows 'em away with a fastball and a change-up. :)

That's just unfair. Granted, I don't know if that CU is just a show pitch for him or not.

His prospect star seems to have dimmed a bit?

Lefty Brady Feigl pitching the 9th for us, seeing eye single starts it after he had got ahead on the first batter.

Two outs now after Feigl gets his first strikeout. Feigl gets through the inning after a two out single.

Kiley McDaniel and Fangraphs rates him our 16th best prospect. Here's his write-up on him:

"Cabrera was getting a lot of buzz in 2013 as a starting pitcher making his full-season debut at Low-A as a 19-year-old. He was in the mid-to-upper-90’s with an electric arm and off-speed stuff that flashed above average and command that looked like enough to start at times. Cabrera took a bit of a step back this year and was moved to the bullpen to help him find more consistency. He runs his heater up to 100 mph in relief but his fastball command regressed as the velocity increased.

Cabrera seems to have a reliever mentality and he can get a little lazy with his delivery at times. He’s on the 40-man and will be in big league camp where Roger McDowell will be able to work with him on his delivery and consistency. Cabrera’s slider is a 55 and his changeup is a 50 when he uses it; there’s still a starter in here, but it may be smarter to develop him as a quick-moving 8th/9th inning arm."

The last hope for the Braves is Eury Perez in his first AB this Spring Training. Perez strikes out on a 2-2 pitch and game one of ST is in the books, Mets take it 8-2.

This is pretty much what we can expect all year. They will scratch out a couple runs here and there, but for the most part the offense will be non-existent. If the pitching staff doesn't hold the other team to 3 or less runs, I wouldn't expect a victory.

Give us a break. Melvin wasn't in the lineup! We all know the offense will spike when he is healthy.

Minor first felt tightness yesterday. For now, the Braves are saying he's being scratched for precautionary reasons
