5/6/15 Phillies at Braves 7:10 PM GDT

Do you feel like Julio Teheran is a disappointment? Is he entering Jeff Francoeur's realm?

Julio has been great the last two years. Heyward value is based on arbitrary defensive statistics that I do not buy into. The two are not even comparable.

To not acknowledge that Heyward has been a massive disappointment so far in this career seems crazy to me.

I just find it funny that 1 craptastic month and Heyward is now entering Francoeur territory but it took like 3 craptastic years from Jeff for you to finally beleive he won't be an MVP.

Jeff's first two years were alright but once he had his hissy fit with the front office he proved what his character was like. At least Heyward is still likeable.

Once again, false dichotomy.

You can be disappointed in your own unrealistic expectations of a player (I had the same expectations. I thought we had potential HOF).

But just because someone doesn't meet your expectations doesn't mean they were a joke of a player who should be equated to one of the worst position players in baseball of the last decade. The fact you equate the two is embarassing.

Sure if you buy into all the hype then Heyward has been a dissapointment offensively. I don't deny that. But I have gotten to the point that I don't even care about what is said about a player in the minors. I will wait and see what he does at the big league level and then make my opinions on him.

Yes, Heyward was flawed offensively. But he was still a good hitter with his time with the Braves, a great defnder and great base runner. That is what I saw and I apprecated him for what he did. I'm not going to hate on him because he wasn't Ken Griffey Jr with the bat because someone said that's what he was supposed to be when he was 19 years old. If you constantly buy into that crap then you will almost always be dissapoianted.

Also, how can you base your whole "I want a line up full of Jace's", then blast Heyward when he is the full realization of the ultimate Jace (elite defense and excellent on base skills, but with some slugging). You can't have it both ways.

Thats a fair point.

I'm just disappointed that Heyward was not what I thought he was going to be. I also think that Jace has slightly better AB's than him.

Heywards 110 WRC+ is a joke but Petersons ~80WRC+ is what we need an entire team of.

You seem to buy into them for Jace Peterson

If Jace Peterson is valued as a top 10 player based on his defense then I won't buy in all the way. Heyward was/is a fantastic defensive player. But this notion that he was top 10-20 player based on that was always absurd.

Then let's discount those metrics for everybody and not just punish Heyward.

Jace has been a negative player this year.

Based on his awful start I would agree with this. Thats not where its going to end up this year.

The one thing that is consistent is that the posters who always complain about the "Heyward Defenders" are the ones who are always bringing him up

You have to admit it at least makes sense with Shelby.

The Bumgarner contract is one of the 5 best in baseball and he got his extension around this same time. Locking up Shelby now makes a tom of sense.

That is one that would actually have some reasonableness to it. Though, it depends on how highly you think of Miller. If you think he's a number 2 starter, then lock him up. If you think he's where his FIP levels are, then I'm not sure you want to pay what he will likely ask for.

Im not sure where it makes sense to lock up Peterson and Peraza.

Mine daddy.
