5/17/15 Braves @ Marlins

So people on a message board decide how you view a certain player?

Yea. Literally.

Along with the stupid Whitty Fckn comments EVERYTIME Markakis spits a sunflower seed out the side of his mouth when he is standing in RF and people claim Heyward could do it better.

I actually said I couldn't remember a pitcher consistently lasting as long into games... not consistency over all. Medlen was fantastic over that stretch... I never said he wasn't... in fact, I even said in a post replying to someone else that Medlen would be the only one close I could think of. But Medlen still had quite a few starts going only 6 or 7 innings in that stretch.

My exact quote that you can go back and read if you so choose:
"You're right about Medlen... that one stretch he had was ridiculous for 12-13 starts."

What was/is your point, exactly? That Miller's two masterful starts make him more consistent than Teheran? Because the Medlen component is shot to hell - he hurled two complete games in that same sample, lest you forget.

Well Julio and Miller were compareable prospects coming up 4-5 years ago

Your analogies are quickly becoming a thing of lore. Congratulations.

Shelby Miller was my first choice for the Braves to draft in 2009. But we drafted Mike Minor instead, who was also someone I liked unlike others who seemed to hate that pick at the time. If Minor gets DFA'd this coming off-season I guess I'll look back and say we'd been better off drafting Miller. Though I was fine with both at the time even though I favored Miller. Then again maybe it would be Miller going down with injury had we drafted him instead, who knows. :)

I'm sorry static words on a page by people you will never meet get you that upset.

Good lord... you must not even go back and read... Sav brought up Wood and Medlen being pitchers who possibly were more consistent.... I said Medlen was probably close... Wood not. Teheran has pitched fantastic before... but I don't remember him pitching late into games on a consistent basis... I don't remember him pitching those two complete games within a 3 game slate and I KNOW they weren't shutouts. Its been more than 2 masterful starts for Miller this year, and you know it. Let's not act like those 2 starts are the only thing we are basing excitement on... AGAIN, it goes back to August last year, but no one on your end wants to address that. Apparently to you, the only reason why people think Miller is a great pitcher is because of two starts, which is so far from the truth.

Who is we?

So now your point is that Miller has pitched solidly since August of last year. Ok, nobody is disputing that.

What I have disputed is your claim that no other Braves pitcher in recent history has pitched with the same 'consistency' -- which you've since qualified as 'pitching late into games' ... sure, if you want to simply use two consecutive one-hit CGs as your only criterion, I'm sunk.

Those were Julio Teheran's first 10 starts of last season. Dude took the ball 33 times and pitched 221 innings. So, no, he didn't pitch CG shutouts twice in three starts, but I'm not sure if your memory is doing him justice.

Never said no other Braves pitcher in recent history has... said I can't remember one who did. You and giles are awful at misquoting people.

Teheran went less than 6 innings 3 times in 2014 out of 33 starts. Julio went 7+ innings 19 times. Average start 6 2/3rds innings.

Miller's last 14 starts dating back to last year 91.1 IP - 6.5 IP per start - 1.48 ERA 2.17 BB/9 6.80 K/9.

Great game by Shelby!

Still we wish we had a similar offseason but held on to Justin. Adding him in the lineup I think would have made us legit contenders for playoffs. But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself

If you could hvae guaranteed that Justin would be open to signing here long term then I would agree with you. Otherwise, I'm thrilled with the return that we got for Justin.
