Braves arent taking pitching because they've had good pitching in the past. They are taking pitching because they have a great track record and drafting and developing pitching.

i'm a draft pitcher kind of guy myself. Much easier to make the playoffs with average offense and good pitching than the other way around. Look at most of the division leaders they have the best pitching in the division.

Astros have been a historically awful baseball team for the last 5 years. They have built up the talent int he organization and their GM seems really bright. When you the ability to take that type of talent at the top of drafts and make trades always with an eye on the future its easier to work from that.

Also, their bullpen is the reason they have the best record in baseball. They have been phenomenal.

this i totally agree with.
 
braves are not planning on on a 5 year rebuild. So we can't do the Houston/Cubs model.

If we would have traded Simmons, FF, Tehran, and Wood then we would have been going down the model.

Not to mention all of the elevators I read said there were not many, if any, impact bats.

Clark's Rules. If they ain't from GA then I'm drafting a pitcher.

Yes, their GM is really bright. I'm noticing a trend throughout baseball between really smart front offices and going heavy on positional talent. I'm just afraid we may be living in 1995 when it doesn't make sense to do so anymore.

We have the ability to have an eye on the future right now. I've been behind most of the moves this offseason, and most have been made to add pitching. I was assuming we would address positional talent more in this draft with all the picks we have. If we don't do that, and use some of the excess picks to reach on guys, I won't be happy.
