Dez needs a new contract. If he wants to sacrifice a game check, that's his prerogative and right. He deserves a contract and deserves to be one of the highest paid (if not THE highest) paid WRs in the league. A deal will get done by the 15th, IMO, and this will be moot. He's still fully committed to the team and torching those sorry Redskins (again).

He would have the Cowboys by the short and curlys if he skipped games. Romo's window is closing and the running game may not be as potent with Murray gone. They need him now more than ever.

Yeah, exactly. This is business, and I don't blame him for using his leverage. The team would be using theirs, too.

I don't really agree with skipping games, but I'd expect the team to come halfway as well. To do something to everyone else's detriment is not really the definition of team, but I get it. Technically he is still under contract to play.

He will get his money eventually. I think Atl is engaging Julio pretty soon. They want something done sooner rather than later.

I'll say, I don't really believe he'd skip a game. He's threatening it, but he's way too much of a gamer to sit out a regular season game. And he'd lose a pay check.

I expect him to get his contract and none of this will matter.

You guys gonna have 5 offensive lineman?

Should have plenty. Ought to be pretty improved honestly. Baker has played 2 games in 2 years. Not really counting on him for much after patella, major back, knee surgeries in the last few years. He isn't back practicing or rehabbing much I don't think.

Matthews, Chester, Hawley or Stone, Asomoah, Shraeder. L to R is projected I think.

Wasn't Blalock good? Chester is awful. Just curious they lost 2 in 2 days.

Contract-year WR Julio Jones said a holdout would be "selfish."
Jones' agent and the Falcons are in the midst of extension negotiations. But unlike Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant, Julio has been at practice every day to get reps in the new Kyle Shanahan scheme. "I'm not going to hold out for anything. My teammates need me. I'm being selfish if I'm not here and doing what I need to do," he said.

There's a big difference between Julio and Dez and Demarius. Julio is on a normal contract they're franchised. Cause June first or whenever the deadline rolls around came around the Falcons can no longer save money cutting Julio. If Julio gets hurt now he still gets paid. If Dez or Demarius gets hurt they can get cut and get nothing.

Wow, excellent from Julio. That made me a fan.

Yeah, there are definitely key differences.
No wanting to get hurt isn't really selfish.
Dez and Demaryius have no reason to sign the tag contract right now.

Dez and Thomas could get an insurance policy that would pay them more money than they would ever need if they got injured this year and had to quit the game.

Or they can just wait and get a long-term contract.
Insurance policies aren't cheap.

Neither one of those guys is in any danger of getting hurt.

Yes they are two different types of contracts, but when they sign, its guaranteed right?

Yes, it is guaranteed.
They still want guaranteed LT money.
Julio sitting out would be like Dez sitting out last year. If Julio is franchised and just signs it right away and reports, good for him. That doesn't always happen with player, though.
