REAL FOOTBALL Thread

It was a joke. relax.

I don't think it's a stretch to question Dez's overall character, though

I understand why someone would question that, totally. He's been fine since being here (outside that incident with his mom, and who knows what actually happened). He's considered a team leader, great teammate and hard worker by everyone within the organization, and I feel he's done a lot to get away from the negativity his upbringing brought.

it's funny that whole "dez video" thing was so hyped up and then when it was revealed that there isn't actually a video, you heard nothing. no apologies from ****ty schefter and florio who were getting people riled up. it was a cheap shot.

Contract-year WR Julio Jones said a holdout would be "selfish."

Jones' agent and the Falcons are in the midst of extension negotiations. But unlike Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant, Julio has been at practice every day to get reps in the new Kyle Shanahan scheme. "I'm not going to hold out for anything. My teammates need me. I'm being selfish if I'm not here and doing what I need to do," he said.

Big difference since his deal is guaranteed.

Franchised guys always hold out, its just the way it is.

No need to come until you have too if you dont get fined for it.

He rubs me the wrong way on the sidelines... Always seems to be "look at me" antics.

eh, i just think that's objectively incorrect. he's definitely really fiery, and obviously ESPN will portray a certain way to gain viewers. he's not a me-first guy, and the outbursts seen (and they really aren't common, at all) are never about him not getting the ball enough like TO was about. he's much closer to irvin than owens.

seriously, how many times do you actually see his "antics"? they kept showing the one from a couple seasons ago (or last season?), but the actual audio revealed what he was saying wasn't the least bit negative.

he's an emotional leader and does so by example...no one on the team has ever had the least bit of problem with him in this regard (or really any other) and I'll trust their opinions over the medias and fans any day. he and tony have great chemistry and no one will accuse him of not doing his job. he's passionate and wants to win, and oh yeah is insanely good.

I don't mind one bit of that. in fact, i prefer it.

@AdamSchefter
Jets DL Sheldon Richardson suspended first four games for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, per NFL.

apparently it's for marijuana. it's certainly time to stop suspending players for that.
drinking is a-ok though.

Rolando McClain also suspended 4 games, not sure for what drug yet. probably weed, which again, is ridiculous.
any GM would rather their players be hanging out smoking than going out partying.

strong speculation that a Dez deal will be announced at the end of this week.

Hmmmm

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports the Cowboys believe unsigned franchise player Dez Bryant is bluffing about holding out and missing games.
The two sides met Friday, and Cole reports "no progress" was made. He even went as far to say the Cowboys believe Bryant is having money problems and wouldn't be able to afford missing paychecks. Dallas isn't budging off the long-term offer its already made to Bryant and will either tell him to sign the deal or play out the season on the one-year, $12.82 million franchise tender.

he is not correct according sources very close to the Cowboys.
they're close to a deal.

Yeah, no need to image out the record. Could have handled it differently. I get he is in competition to get that information but geez, have some effin decency.

I hate ESPN.
