If he's out after tonight, I wonder what the autopsy will reveal. He just plummeted. One theory is that when he tried to match Trump insult-for-insult, he came off as being callow and, as a result, a lot of voters wondered if he was ready for the big stage. Or maybe his boots came back to haunt him.

I made the analogy earlier, but Rubio reminds me of a first-round pick who can't hit a breaking ball. Flashes a lot of skills, tears up the minors, then gets exposed in the bigs.

I think that's a pretty good analogy. And the thing about players like that is, sometimes they figure out how to hit "the crooked ball" and they go on to have really good careers, but sometimes, in fact usually it seems like they don't learn how if they don't learn how in the minors. I guess we'll see.
