Heyman on Braves' trade chips and Olivera

Oh, I don't put a lot of stock in what he says. I have made the same post as you just did about him in the past (last year for example you'll find posts by me saying the same). But it is pretty well known the Braves have shopped Teheran multiple times over the last few years. The talks with the Cubs being probably the most confirmed but other GM's have been admitting to such talks going back two years now just as Gammons said. And that is what I am going by more, confirmed talks, not so much Gammons stating what I assumed we already knew. Further, I don't think the FO is as high on Teheran as some of us here are and I am not confident his better pitching of late will change that. This is partly why I am expecting us to trade him one way or another. But I hope Coppy and co. play hardball if so and get A LOT back that actually helps the MLB team. I just wouldn't bet on it to be honest because I believe our FO underrates him same as they did Wood. They had velocity issues with Wood too (remember we're all about velocity nowadays, lol).

I wonder if they have shopped him or just listened as other teams made offers. (you gotta listen on anyone) This is what gets things confused, three writer will describe the same phone conversation between GM's as "an offer" , "shopping", or "listening on" it can make the intentions of the front office hard to figure out.

I think last winter they shopped Teheran in the same way they shopped Simmons and Miller. They may have felt his value would rise after his relatively poor 2015 season. That has happened. But other things have changed too, including the organizational focus on 2017.

Some news on the injury for the oft-discussed Swihart.

IMO, if Swihart can't stick at catcher, I'm not sold his bat will be enough for the corner OF. His 2015 defensive numbers do look pretty solid tho. I wouldn't mind him in a package for teheran, but there would have to be another equally valued player involved too. Swihart, Michael Chavis and a low level arm might be enough. (ymmv, I like Chavis's power potential)

I'm kinda resigned to Julion being traded, though I don't necessarily feel like it's the right thing to do. The Sox are a good match—they have depth to trade from at positions that we need. I'd love to get Benintendi, but I doubt it'll happen. If Swihart is the centerpiece there better be a lot more coming back our way.

I don't think he will be traded for a haul we would look down upon. It might not measure up to the ludicrous giveaway the D-backs pulled, but I reckon it will either not happen, or the return will make us all nod our heads and say,at worst, well, I think we did pretty well.

IMO Swihart is a fringe guy anywhere else but C. I like Chavis—he's a hard worker and a good makeup guy—but he's a bit of a longshot.

Yeah, I'm not down with the "a lot more coming back" thing. That's when you get a shoebox full of parts and we need studs who can hit, since we can't draft 'em and don't develop 'em.

You want him, he's yours. A number two starter, fabulously cheap and cost controlled. For you, he means the pennant. We need your best prospect. In fact, we need your best two.

well yeah, if he can catch (and the jury is out as the sample size is too small to judge) then I think my trade proposal is sound. Problem is, if he can't, then all of a sudden the proposal becomes crap

I wouldn't trade Julio for anyone other than Moncada on the Sox... I know that is super unlikely to happen, but that's the only prospect I'd feel comfortable giving up Julio for.

Teheran and Norris to Boston for Benintendi and Roniel Raudes.

Vizcaino and Pierzynski to Texas for Profar.

Markakis to San Francisco for Adalberto Mejia.

Inciarte and Garcia to Cleveland for Clint Frazier.

2017 Braves:

CF- Mallex
SS- Swanson
1B- Freeman
RF- Frazier
LF- Benintendi
3B- Profar
C- Flowers
SP
2B- Albies

What the *ell - it's Monday!

Vizcaino and Pierzynski to Texas for Profar.

John Hart isn't in Texas anymore, so no way would Texas be interested in AJP. Plus Texas is very happy with the duo of Bobby Wilson and Bryan Holaday. So much so they're in no hurry to rush back injured starting catcher Chirinos. However, Chirinos is progressing well and is due back soon (possibly June 9th according to MLB.com, he is on rehab assignment now). To sum it up, they'll need to remove a catcher that they like so selling off AJP to them isn't happening. Not that I see anyone, even a team in need of catching help, wanting AJP. If I am a team in need of a back-up catcher I am calling Texas to ask about Wilson or Holaday since one of them may be available soon.

That said, Texas would certainly be interested in Viz along with many other teams. Texas has Dyson closing but I am sure they rather have him as set-up man and someone like Viz as closer. The question is would they trade Profar for Viz? They might if you add another solid reliever and/or infielder to the deal. Then again it may take both for Profar as good as he's hitting so far.

Yeah, not sure he has value now if he didn't last year. I think AJP only has value as Club House Bro

I would not mind making a big combo deal with the Rangers. Teheran, Viz,Cervenka and Rio Ruiz for Gallo,Profar and Brinson.

Pretty much the same here, I am not sold on a number of their other prospects that others here like so much. I am sold on Moncada big time and would take him straight up for Teheran. If we got him for Teheran that would be getting a lot back in return. When I said a lot back I didn't mean as far as certainly multiple players, though I would prefer that in any case. But Moncada is worth so much in value just alone that just getting him back would be a lot in return IMO.
