DRAFT IN PROGRESS THREAD ... What's past is preamble

This is a serious, serious reach. When you draft third you should be getting a top talent, not a right handed high schooler who had a couple good starts at the end of the season but will need a ton of time and a bit of luck to develop.

Terrible value at 3. Not at all what you want to see.

Lulz

Draft is a crapshoot always. So saving money here could pay off. But man it's tough to pass on Lewis when he seems BPA and fills needs

I hate the idea of saving money. Weve cut payroll in the major team, and now in draft picks. Braves are a small market team now.

Probably the only team to

That's something we will never know. I do know this. I trust the Braves scouting staff. Brian Bridges is one of the best young scouting directors in baseball, and with Roy Clark around, I have very little doubts with what they do.

To me, it is a good sign that they didn't go the college route and stayed true with the philosophy of drafting high upside high school players with a focus on pitching. Paul Snyder philosophy!!

This $ is equivalent to the slot values between 13 - 17, so this is a critical aspect of this pick.

When you're picking top 3, you want a blue chip kinda guy.

Not sure Anderson is.

And what if we're right? Have to trust the scouts.

And we could be! Disappointment aside, what I like about Anderson is that he hasn't thrown a million innings growing up and is someone wo is throwing his best right now. And I get the saving $3 million for later picks. I just can't see a dream pick at #40 because there are other teams with multiple picks ahead of us who can also grab a risky pick.

Maybe Delvin Perez???

If you don't want to be a Braves fan, then just stop.

Dude, chill. It's a legitimate opinion. Every bit as legitimate as being perfectly satisfied with the chance of maybe being pretty good in five years. But hey, if these guys don't pan out, the good news is that we'll suck and have MOAR draft picks! Shades of Shanks, when every pick was good and every Braves farmhand was a stud. . .

Ain't no way we're taking Perez. I would love to see Groome/Kieboom. I would also like Benson as well.
