DRAFT IN PROGRESS THREAD ... What's past is preamble

So he should trade our farm in a hilariously futile attempt to compete then let the players he traded for walk in free agency so he can get late first round draft picks? Is that the strategy you want?

Preller is among the worst in baseball. He single-handedly destroyed their farm system while producing a mediocre MLB team.

Yes, do you think that Washington is scared of signability? He is going to get drafted before 40. If you don't think so put some money where your mouth is

According to Baseball America, the Nationals have the 5th smallest bonus pool in the majors, $5,538,400. Their 28th overall pick is valued at $2,065,900, and their 29th at $2,034,600. Their 58th overall pick is valued at $1,107,000. The slot values drop dramatically as the rounds go on.

Groome is asking for 5+, i doubt Washington is gonna use their entire pool on him.

Padres have the biggest pool and can take that risk. Nats cant.

You dont know how the draft works, no lock Groome falls to 40, probably unlikely. But just because a team is a big market doesnt mean they're gonna spend big, not how the draft works.
