Trade Deadline: What are you willing to do?

I would prefer Brinson and Gallo. I view Gallo a little like Chris Davis, another big power, big SO Texas product. Gallo is never going to hit .300 and he's going to K a lot, maybe a whole lot. However, he does look like he's going to be a 40+HR guy who is going to sit in the .800 plus OPS range.

Count me out on Gallo, plus I don't think the rangers are interested in trading him. They don't seem keen on trading Profar either, so he might be unrealistic as well. I haven't heard them unwilling to move Brinson, but they would definitely have to add to him to get Teheran. If they want Viz too they will obviously have to add even more.

In 2-3 years, a 1-4 of Albies, Swanson, Brinson and Freeman might look pretty darn good though.

I think at this point no one would give us what JT would require. No team values him like the Braves do.

Astros just signed Cuban 3B for 47M....should be ready in a few weeks.

Hmmmm

One would assume that makes Bregman available. They need pitching, an OFer and could use a catcher. The Braves have a lot of parts they could possibly use: Teheran, Viz, Inciarte, Markakis, Frenchy, and AJP.

If they deal Teheran they may as well go ahead and deal Inciarte as well.

Julio and Inciarte for Bregman, Tucker, and Musgrove maybe?

I'm not good at putting together specific packages, but it could also include the Astros taking on Markakis and his contract, or the Braves including other parts like Viz, AJP or Frenchy.

The main point is it's centered around Bregman. The rest doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things. It would forever be known as the Teheran/Bregman trade.

If we could somehow pry Bregman away now, it'd be amazing. One of the few I'd trade Teheran for. Bregman/Swanson/Albies/Freeman.... what an infield that has the chance to be. Dustin Peterson in LF may not look that bad at that point. Sign Cespedes or another power RFer and that's a potentially solid ball club provided some of these prospects come close to their ability

The most likely suitor for Teheran and Viz is probably now the Rangers. The return would have to be Brinson and Profar.

Brinson is a top 20 prospect, RHed, and should fill a long term need in the OF. He has had a rough year due to a left shoulder strain, but he has started hitting again now that he is healthy. The AA lineup would have Albies, Swanson and Brinson at the top, and that would be fun to watch.

Profar is currently without a position for the Rangers after they extended Beltre, so he would fit in well at 3B. At worst he would be a super utility guy under control for 4 more years. Everyone knows he was a blue chip prospect that had major arm issues, so he could be a buy-low candidate.

Anyways, any trade involving Teheran to the Rangers starts with Brinson as the return.

Personally love this one. Two thumbs up!

I really get a giggle out of how we discuss prospects in this forum, and particularly the ways we describe guys in our system versus guys in other systems.

One thing to add in the Houston Astros trade proposals..
If we do trade with the Astros, I would REALLY REALLY want Bregman and Fisher in a return back. My most wanted trade would be something like:
Teheran, Vizaino, and Inciarte for
Bregman, Fisher, Albert Abreu/Musgrove, and Celestino/Sierra

Pretty sure Vizcaino can be removed from any proposals now - not going anywhere this year.

My guess is a Houston offer for Teheran would largely be comprised of lower-level guys (Kyle Tucker, Daz Cameron) or a couple of guys who have reached AA (Derek Fisher, J.D. Davis). I think the best we could expect would be one from each group and maybe another fringy prospect like Teoscar Hernandez. Jason Martin could be of interest as well.

I love Teheran, but alone I don't think he nets more than two (three at the outside) guys by himself.

Well. Coppy has said we are done trading for lower minors guys. I suspect at least one guy coming back will have to be ready next year.

Coppy's statement makes me think that it will be difficult to deal Teheran for that very reason.

Yeah. I agree. That's kind of the point of this whole conversation. JT is valuable, either to the Braves or someone else. If trading him doesn't make you better then keeping him does. We may not see a playoff team next year, but I doubt we are making moves to be worse next year in order to be better in 2018/19. With the new stadium, and young exciting players coming, I think we keep him unless trading him makes us better next year.

I think the only teams with major league (or near major league ready) talent that could be traded for Teheran would be Texas and Seattle and I don't know if they could put together a package that would meet with Coppy's approval. I don't see Houston as having major league hitting depth that would fit for us. I don't see the Cubs or Red Sox (now that they've acquired Pomeranz) as being that interested.

I think you are probably right. I think we keep him for the rest of the season unless someone gets desperate (not impossible).

That's not happening. I would imagine Bregman is pretty close to untouchable at this point. I definitely would assume the Astros value him more than Teheran by a decent amount.

Where will the Astros play the Cuban player they signed yesterday?
