The issue is less about the lost year of control and more the fact we are promoting a prospect because the FO decided to rather than the player showing he is ready. Dansby has been fairly average overall at AA and been very poor the past month and a half (hitting .250 with an OPS right at .700). Promoting a guy who is struggling at AA to the majors is just a dumb move period.
What kind of line do you expect from him in his first 400 or so AB?
This had to be the plan all along. Swanson has been getting a lot of days off lately and it's likely to make sure he's fresh
But they go to the FanGraphs site every day.Or maybe our scouts and staff who watch him every day know a little bit more about if he's ready than a bunch of wannabe GM's on a message board that have watched a game here or there and a handful of at bats on YouTube?
I thought that was a very clear yes.
Yeah, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw this announcement. The mysterious days off in recent weeks are now making sense. We executed to the baseline plan. Readiness of the player was not the primary factor.
Apparently they don't care about players showing they are ready before promoting them to the majors either.
People spazzing out over the greatest prospect of all time being called up to the majors?!! He is amazing and is a can't miss player. At least that's what I have been told.

So many people on this board sound like they were hoping or expecting to have 10 players making their MLB debut at the same time on Opening Day. That is totally unrealistic.
What's your definition of ready? Stats are only a portion of the overall.
Performing well at the level he is playing at, showing consistent improvement. Rather than consistently going in the opposite direction like Dansby has the past couple months. I think he'll be fine defensively, and I don't think he has the mentality that he's going to be hurt by struggling badly, but you never know with that. Lets get real here though, nobody supporting this move has any reasons to support why he should be up now, they just are blindly supporting the move because the FO is doing it.
I honestly don't know but I bet it will be significantly better than Aybar

So does Swanson have to be on the 40 man roster at the end of the year? I know they have some decisions to make on the 40 man, so my question is does this add another man that will require another guy to be left unprotected.
