I'm pretty surprised to see most of us on the same page. Coppy is the man.
Basically with you. Both kind of meh moves.
With the exception of the big 3 at closer of Jansen, Chapman, Melancon, and Encarncion/Cespedes, it's a pretty meh FA market.
It's one of the best moves outside of a big trade we could possibly made in this FA class. lol

To all those folks clamoring for a TOR pitcher trade, is it finally starting to sink in why I kept saying over and over that those ideas were unrealistic?

I guess I'm just in the "roll the dice" with the younger guys camp. These are only one-year deals (thankfully), but I somehow see the moves since mid-season 2016 are being made to convince folks we are somehow in the playoff hunt.

Braves have the system to trade for an Archer or Sale but would Coppy do it?
You do realize there are already reports the Braves are interested in trading for guys like Archer, right?
Wow that is the Braves prized possession this winter. All this budget available and they are throwing 12.5 at a 80 year old pitcher.
If you're still asking that question you haven't been paying attention to literally every single thing Coppy has said and done.
There are flaws with every free agent available. If you think we can't compete this year you should be happy because this takes nothing away from the future of the team. Should also allow them to not rush pitching prospects to fill in the rotation.
They have checked in and done due diligence on every single pitcher that may be available. Teams willing to potentially trade for Archer do not sign Dickey and Colon on back to back days in November.
Again, anyone that is holding out hope for a guy like Archer isn't paying attention to literally everything Coppy has said and done.
Braves are paying 20.5 in guaranteed money for 2017 that produced 3.9 fWAR and 3.8 bWAR 2016. That's under market value with only 1 year commitment. Good times.
What does signing two over 40 pitchers have to do with trading for Archer?
They have maintained since before the deadline they went to acquire a young pitcher who has multiple years of control. I don't know why it's so hard for you to admit that.
