Well, when Dickey is involved and balls are flying all over the place, it's time to get the ol' T-hole involved.
Ewwww

Not a bad deal. While nobody else throws like him, a veteran who can help out the kids.
Best Braves knuckle ball pitcher since Phil Niekro?![]()
Actually, you're hearing what you want to hear. He's left the door open for meaningful acquisitions, while acknowledging that we're probably a year away from that.
I think the thought would go something like this - we are pointed toward 2018, but (for instance) the Rays are offering Archer for a stiff-but-manageable prospect cost, maybe three real good ones. Now, you'd prefer to develop your ace, and if you're in acquisition mode for that last piece or two to put you in the hunt, you hope there might be a deal to be made in a year when it is your optimal time. But you don't know that. And here's Archer, controllable for five years, right now. Do you pull the trigger?
I pull it and don't look back.
What's even funnier is you having to go to every single thread to tell everyone they need to stop discussing scenarios. They also said from day 1 that they were looking at young controllable starters. I guess that statement isn't true, though?Again, you aren't paying attention. A team interested in acquiring Archer doesn't sign Dickey and Colon on back to back days in November. A team going for Archer signs guys like that as fall back plans in January.
The Braves added 400 reliable innings of average-ish pitching to their rotation at minimal cost and commitment. It is exactly what they said they wanted to do from day 1.
They also said from day 1 they will not be trading prospect assets for a quick fix. Why do folks still insist on trying to come up with clever scenarios that completely contradict everything that has been said and done?

Maybe the Braves analysis reveals that really old pitchers are the latest market inefficiency.

Is it any funnier than you replying to every one of my comments to whine?
They said they were looking for controllable pitching, and then also said they weren't going to deplete the farm for a quick fix. It doesn't take much brain power to realize they aren't getting a controllable pitcher without depleting the farm, despite all the unrealistic trade scenarios bandied about in these boards. The Braves could have fleeced a team for their pitcher, but it doesn't take more than a sliver of logic to understand that is never going to happen in a market completely devoid of available pitching.
So now that the Braves have filled 4 rotation spots and will undoubtedly let there be a battle for the 5th spot, are we still going to discuss theories about the Braves acquiring Archer or Sale? Or can we discuss things that actually have a chance of happening?

I keep coming back to Sonny Gray. Or, after adding the two coaches from the Orioles' system, we at least talk about Kevin Gausman or Dylan Bundy. Orioles crave an outfielder.
According to Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball, the Atlanta Braves are among the teams showing "strong interest" in acquiring Sale.
Hey, Dickhead. You're remarkably quiet this morning. Care to reconsider your rather emphatic comments regarding the impossibility of going after a frontline pitcher?
Let's make the "who leaves the board bet" over Sale. We can include Archer in the bet too. Deal?
And by the way:

"The Washington #Nats among the latest teams to inquire on #Whitesox ace Chris Sale, but no serious talks with anyone yet"
So yeah, Sale isn't happening, and neither is Archer. But please, take me up on that bet. We can finally start weeding out the moronic posters as they prove themselves wrong over and over and have to leave the board one by one.
No, that's not necessary.
YOUR point was to say that it was stupid for us to discuss things you said the front office wasn't considering. You said it fifteen times on seven threads. You mocked anyone who did not see the plain logic of your argument, that the Braves wouldn't consider an ace after signing Colon and Dickey. You were a complete ass about it.
You are already wrong, regardless of whether an ace comes to Atlanta or not. So no need to bet anything. It's a fait accompli.
Certainly not taking his "side", but why call him out if you don't want to argue with him?
After all, he's going to add MMA champ (or whatever) to his long list of accomplishments soon, so he'll obviously whip everyone's *ss AFTER he proves he's a genius.
Thought he was already a weightlifting champion and male pornstar?
I'll argue with him, but he's not going to set the rules. Too much like my ex-wife.
My guess? If we're talking to them about Sale, we eventually begin serious discussions about Quintana.
Set the rules? How is arguing that a trade has 0% chance of happening any different than posting 15 different scenarios where it could happen? Why am I dick for making a case to back up my assertion that the Braves will not be getting Sale or Archer, but you are a saint for saying that it's still a possibility?
I'm sorry that accusing folks of "not paying attention" (which is the only thing I accused anyone of in any post) is so offensive to some of you. It didn't occur to me that would upset folks, though I suppose I should have learned my lesson about how thin-skinned some posters are by now.
