Albies was going to be our starting 2B to open next season so this really makes no difference.
yup...just like it had been determined Swanson would start at short to open 2017...so no harm done

and the Braves have said they will call guys up when they feel they're ready. Just a different philosophy.

It is a different philosophy, but is it the right philosophy for a mid-market team? This is probably the reason I am skeptical about the rapid promotion mentality. It's not that the guys aren't ready for higher levels or the big leagues. It's that service clocks take on increasing importance for teams that likely won't be able to keep all its top-level players.
I have no clue. I hope they have a plan. We'll see how it plays out in the long run. But they could be calling up a few major pieces next year. I don't think you want to call up Albies, Acuna, Wright, Soroka/Gohara all in one season, right?
Wonder if we get reputation for promoting early if it helps us sign internationally
Right. So far I think the optimal plan would have been Swanson 2 weeks into the season. Albies 2 weeks into next and acuna half way through next year to avoid super 2. That way they hit arby at different times.

You think its right to hold down Acuna until halfway through next season with the way he has performed?

Yes. It's not that hard when you aren't promoting prospects every 2 months. Again the Braves are trying to rush the rebuild and get their best prospects to Atlanta as soon as possible for some reason.
What about benching/demotion if you don't perform to expectations in favor of the hot hand?

Or Acuna has clearly shown that the minor leagues have not been a challenge?
You don't think it EVER makes sense to make an exception with a special player?
We are a performance based organization. Its a fantastic message.
So is every Braves prospect a special player? Because they are all getting rapid promotions.
It makes sense in certain situations. The Braves are not in any of them currently.
Another fantastic message is sticking with a player after you prematurely tried to make them a face of the organization.
